Pinging to those from the previous threads. We finally reached the top of the list. This one was kind of predictable for anyone who knows me well. LOL. It's a great, short song with a catchy tune -- the greatest country song ever written and performed, in my humble opinion. What's not to like in a country song about a rodeo rider in Texas? It's on a number of my playlists, and I could listen to it forever.

And I have yet to hear a country song with "Amarillo" in the lyrics that isn't a great one!

"I ain't got a dime, but what I've got is mine ... I ain't rich -- but Lord, I'm free."

Thank you all for following this thread along the way, and a special THANK YOU to SunkenCiv for posting the prior list of threads so I could repost the hyperlinks all in one place!

This was a very interesting series of threads. Thank you for taking the initiative to countdown your most played iTunes songs.

Before I reveal my #1, let me state in advance that my Top 50 most played tunes are not my actual most played tunes. This is because I am a sucker for downloading the latest remastered or expanded versions of my favorite albums.

Whenever I do this, the play counts of my most favorite songs get reset to zero.

For example, "Tusk" is my favorite Fleetwood Mac album and thus songs like "Sisters Of The Moon", "Sara", and "Storms" would easily get into my most played songs. But recently, I downloaded the massive 62-track "Expanded Edition" which reset all those songs back to zero (because I always delete earlier versions).

Anyway, time for my number one most played iTunes song which was downloaded many years ago on a compilation Christmas album and currently sits at 262 plays.

The Pogues - Fairytale of New York (1988)

This is a song I never get tired of listening to. Especially after I moved to the New York City area just over a decade ago.

The Pogues had many other great songs including "A Rainy Night In Soho" and "A Pair Of Brown Eyes".

Lead singer Shane McGowan died just about a year ago at this time. He had quite a rough life but wrote some great songs.

Anyway, thanks for letting my piggyback on your threads with my own top songs. Here are my 50 top played songs on iTunes that I froze in time about when you started this project. There are a lot of new songs moving up so in a year or so, this list will look a lot different in my music library.

Here is one of my favorite songs. I used to play it before leaving for a day of hunting, but it’s motivational for any time!
