Got 4 more hours. Work 3rd shift, then home for a bed, then off to spend the weekend until Monday morning in LA (SE of Monroe, Lafayette Parish with wife). She inherited property there and it's taking some work. Notclean room. Holler good acreage. It's woodsy with plenty of game. I don't have time to hunt. Just working on an old farmhouse.

I work 2 jobs. This will be my last weekend until the new year.

I'm kinda sitting on my butt until 6 am central. Medical device plant in E. TX.

I work maintenance, although I do clean room work sometimes. It’s 3rd shift and 45 or so people. Other job is shutting down after Thanksgiving.

Things will get better on Jan 20th! Amen!

Retired night owl here. Used an alarm clock most of my life. No Mas. When I gave a month’s notice to my last job, I was asked, over and over and over “what are you going to do?” My very first answer was always “sleep in.”

Worked graveyard shift at Safeway grocery store in my 20’s. Very strange. On your day off, you return to sleeping at night, like most humans. The next graveyard shift is hard.

They don’t use the term ‘graveyard shift’ in hospitals. Probably a good thing.

Own my own business, but my sleep at night has been sporadic with a 2 am bladder.

Can’t afford to retire, so this is what I do.

I do manage four Ping! lists, so the night owl act works wonders.

Kind of a night owl. Picked that up in high school and college. But I also work 8:30am ‘til 5:00pm.

Woke up because of a cold. Took some Tylenol. Grabbed some Pepsi to drink. Checked on a sick (but recovering) 8 year old Boxer dog.

Just hanging out here for a few minutes before trying to go back to bed.

74 and way retired. Just got setting up trades in the market for tomorrow, only way to keep myself in Milk and cookies.

One thing I’m noticing as I grow older, the younger people don’t seem to want to work much for their daily keep, and it seams they like to steal stuff (not use to those types)

Good night, get some rest

I’m up all night every night. Been a vampire since birth, much to my parents’ dismay. LOL
Retired a while back but always worked night jobs. I learned REAL quick after moving out on my own that day shift was never going to work for me.

I’m still working. Night watch. We call “graveyard”, “midwatch. “
Did 12 today. Went in at eleven a:m. I usually fall asleep on the couch watching tv. Then wake up around 3 and wake up the wife getting into bed. lol

I’ll probably never retire. Not sure we are meant to?

Just awakened for my night shift stint. Retired decades ago. Sleep in 4 hr rotations. Will only be up a couple hours before the next sleep period. But it’s nice and quiet and dark now. Dogs still sleeping. Husband asleep with the TV paused.

Now it’s scanning thru the conservative news sites to make sure that the world still rotates and that Trump is still safe and sound.

Then to my absurd compulsion to scan thru Chinese and Korean dramas to organize them by quality rating and plot. Unlike American dramas, there are a very small number of general plots. It’s in the details for that version of the plot where the drama gets creative.

I enjoy the nights and appreciate the other night owls who post interesting threads. Many thanks.

I find the middle of the night so peaceful, with most everyone in the vicinity asleep. Not buzzing and fretting. I check in here to make sure the news isn’t too dire. Then I read a bit, learn something, write a bit, and try to remember why I was sent to this planet.

My workday just ended so I’ll be heading to the bar for some rock n roll with friends. My day is your night, but I’m also a real night owl.

I’m retired now but used to do the Nightshift at Water Treatment Plants. I prefered it so I didn’t have to put up with the masses. Did both 8 and 12 hour shifts and on weekends I would often cover for others who wanted the Day off on the weekends so I would cover for them and rack up some extra money but not enough to get screwed over by the taxes from the goobermint. Did it for 10+ years and before that I was at Bar/Restraunt until closing time at 02:00 often until 04:00 - 05:00 afterwards to relax with some Drinks and then walk out with the Waitresses/Owner with the Daily Deposit.

I still sleep best while the Sun is up. Foam Foil board cut to fit in the windows to keep it nice and dark for optimal snooze factor.

What a lovely thread to wake up to! Thank you. I love learning more about FReepers :). I’m “retired” (quit but boss tells everyone otherwise, lol) after working with a pediatric endocrinologist doing clinical trials (mostly diabetes). Hubby works in network something and has just under two years before he retires. We like getting up around 5:30 to have coffee/tea together before he has to go to work. We usually put on a livestream of cruise ports in Florida and the Caribbean and watch ships come in while we chat.

Good morning to all and may God bless your day.

Retired software/database engineer here. I tell people I stopped being in a hurry about most things in my life when I walked out of the office for the last time. Still farm and ranch so I do get in a hurry about things a few times a year.
