Experts say the presidential election may overwhelm Americans with emotions — from optimism to disappointment, frustration, and fear. One woman in Sauk City, WI is seeing more people stop by her business to smash their rage away.
Disorderly Conduct Rage Rooms has seen an uptick in bookings this week, according to owner Amanda Chestnut.
“They're feeling the anger of maybe their nominee didn't get elected,” Chestnut said. “The election being sort of a key point in time where people are focused more on things maybe outside of their control, so they're feeling a little out of control and they want to come in and release some of that energy definitely.”
It’s easy to feel in control with a sledgehammer or bat in your hand.
Smashing a dish or computer monitor takes less than two seconds, but according to Chestnut, “it takes 90 seconds for an emotion to fully process its cycle.”
But suppressing emotions in your body can cause physical health problems like high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes that last much longer, so venting is important for your mind and your body.
“You're not carrying that around, you don't have to worry about the big eruption coming out later on." "You can just kind of process it and move on with your life,” she said.
Chestnut found she didn't have a safe place to release those emotions when she really needed it.
“I started Disorderly Conduct after my dad passed away,” she said. “I was going through the stages of grief and I hit that anger stage and I hit it really hard as an independent mom. I didn't have that ability to kind of like, lose it at home.”
So the former deputy sheriff opened the rage rooms last year. “America, where the highest incarceration rate per capita so I'm not being allowed to be angry in public and getting arrested because you're throwing bottles around in your own garage didn't sit well with me.”
Now she says she's seeing a lot more people needing to deal with their own life-altering event.
After booking a session online and signing a waiver, you’re led to the gear room. A helmet with safety goggles or face shield is required; gloves and coveralls are optional.
Then you choose your dishes, glassware, or electronics you’d like to smash (paying by the basket) and your weapon of choice.
“My favorite is probably either the sledgehammer or the baseball bat because they just swing really easy,” Chestnut said. “Croquet mallets is typical Wisconsin fashion.” She’s even seen people “take the trophies and smash the heads off of the trophies. Frying pans are probably one of the most laughed-at weapons.”
Each person gets a private room with a Bluetooth speaker and their emotions. “I encourage screaming,” Chestnut said.
She feels satisfied hearing the people feel relieved after choosing to take a bat to something, not someone.
“They tell me they feel lighter. They feel like a weight has been lifted off of their shoulders,” Chestnut said. “If I hear screaming, I know I'm doing my job because I'm providing that safe place for people that are able to do that.”
Mental illness on full display. Time to reopen all the mental institutions and round these idiots up and put them away for the rest of their lives. Back in the day, this nonsense would not have been tolerated.
This is utterly pathetic.
“Disorderly Conduct Rage Rooms”
Must be a ‘new’ thing; never heard of it before.

Scream therapy - the movie
Five friends struggling in their lives head to the desert for a girls weekend of restorative scream therapy. Their vacation takes a sharp turn when they cross paths with a cult of incels who are on a very pressing human sacrifice deadline.
It’s less crazy acting than predicted. It’s acting. Look at me.
If the right, every group on the right, would stop promoting the media. The View. The crazy actors, they would disappear.
Trump’s victory was so large as to make them irrelevant fools. Yet the right can’t get enough. IGNORE the left. Keep bulldozing.
Luther made headlines during the pandemic when she reopened Salon A La Mode in defiance of government orders. “I ended up in jail,” Luther recalls with a smile,
Fools and their money, soon parted
Have tried to get someone of the failed opposition to articulate their reason for being so NOT ‘dei” with those of us on the winning side. NaughtZees, fascists, removers of R vs W, gun lover, anti-glbtxyz+...... But never a reasoned response. So much for tolerance. Even a couple of mental health ‘professionals’. WOW!
wait until the left figures out Trump is setting up his children to take over after this term :)
Rage Rooms were invented by the Vikings in the 1060s, and it seems to have worked.
I encourage sacking up, shutting up and getting to work. Stop freaking out and start acting in a mature adult like manner.
One of my sons friends owns a rage room. Less than a year ago he relocated to a new building with 2 1/2 times more space. I wonder if he saw the future?!?!?
The democrats will start a do away with elections because it upsets their crazy supporters ,LOL
The susceptibility of many to the psyops enacted against them by those they trust should not be discounted.
Lots of deprogramming needs to take place.
I’ve done this a couple times. It’s kind of fun breaking stuff. Let it out.
We ought to change the name from “Rage Rooms” to “Adult Tantrum Rooms”. Far more accurate and descriptive.
That's not what she said. I did.
I hope he makes a mint.
I just go to the range...in my own backyard. Fill up some liter pop bottles with water, set them on the fence and bing, bang, boom!
My mood is magically lightened. :)
