Trump takes office on January 20th.

There’s lots of work the Senate needs to do.

The Senate would not recess until just before July 4th.

And McConnell has instructed Thune to cage Trump insomuch as possible. There will be no recess door for Gaetz if McConnell or Thune run the Senate.

None of Schumer’s ‘rats are going to vote for Gaetz. And Collins, Murkowski, McConnell, Cornyn and Thune aren’t going to hold open the confirmation door for Gaetz.

Agree...I'm not commenting on Gaetz himself in this post. But it is my hunch Mr. Gaetz will face an impossible confirmation process, if he is nominated.

Thune publicly said he will allow recess appointments. He could be lying, but he did so publicly.

Yes they are. And here is why. Senators, just like any other member of the legislative branch needs to bring home the bacon. With Musk heading up DOGE, the possibility of cuts to their pet projects is now a reality. With the majority of Americans behind Trump, Telling A Senator to reconsider or lose money for their pet projects will now have an impact.

These days, it is just as easy to build up oil programs from the gulf as it is for Alaska.
