Since salt has been debunked as a health concern (other than eating less than twice the recommended amount, which can cause huge issues), I have to take this article with a grain of, well, salt.

Deli meat secretly having high sodium?? Come on. Never mind the rest of the items on the list.

TV dinners, or whatever they are called now, are extremely high in salt.

I love soup. All different kinds. But I’m on a low-sodium diet. I suppose you can find low-sodium canned soup at a specialty store. But the ones my grocery store carries are all loaded with sodium.

I just don’t get it. Why not just make them all low-sodium, then put on the label “salt to taste”?

I want to ask my grocer that, but I’m afraid I’d get…

Of course cheese has salt. No salt, no cheese.

Some is lower in salt than others but it all has salt.

It is like people asking for yeast free beer.

Or sugar free Kombucha.

I’ve stopped buying canned soup...I make beef barley and chicken soup and freeze. Trying to cut down on the salt.

If you are trying to avoid salt yet get a bad craving for cottage cheese or bread, I have found that anchovy paste and crackers kill the craving.

4. Tortillas

Probably for flour or flour/corn blended tortillas. Most corn tortillas don't have salt (or very sparingly).

Because of COVID and the lack of availability of decent corn tortillas (corn, lime, water only), I started making our own. Store-bought corn tortillas now taste awful.

If you want “high blood pressure in a bag”, munch down on Original Chex Mix. It has five different kinds of sodium in it. 250mg of sodium per half cup.

Sodium chloride
Sodium bicarbonate
Trisodium phosphate
Sodium diacetate
Disodium inosinate

It is not secretly loaded with salt. It is on the label. If one is literate and not stupid just read the damn label. Oddly canned soup is one of the worst. I eat it anytime I wish as I am blessed with low blood pressure. If you are not, read the damn label.
