We’re not listening: Trump’s win proves voters have tuned out biased media
NY Post ^ | 11/10/24 | David Harsanyi

If the 2024 presidential contest proved anything, it’s that the mass media no longer drive the national conversation.

They can no longer stoke fear and outrage in average voters. They can no longer prop up terrible candidates.

And, like him or not, President-elect Donald Trump’s success with black, Hispanic and Jewish voters, if exit polls are even close to correct, proves that the entire “fascist” scare was a flop.

Indeed, the establishment press are less trusted than virtually any major institution in American life. It’s a well-earned ignominy.

It’s also a tragedy for a free nation that we have a barely functioning press.

Reporters probably tell themselves they’re disliked because they’re fearless truth-tellers. But, far more likely, it’s a referendum on their deceit.

There was never a reckoning for the Russia collusion hysteria that enveloped the nation, or the concerted effort to censor and gaslight us on the Hunter Biden laptop story.

There will be no reckoning for spending years fear-mongering about the coming Nazism, either.

Recall, as well, how we got here. Most of the media had spent four years covering up President Joe Biden’s mental and physical decay by the time the first presidential debate rolled around.

It was perhaps the most stage-managed presidency in history, and not one mainstream-media reporter with access to the White House thought it important enough to let us know that the commander-in-chief could barely function.

Yup, and one important feature of true “free speech social media” is the phenomenon of the “long interview”. That is to say, rather than ultra-short (malleable) “sound bytes”, the interviewee is subjected to an hour or three during which they can be thoroughly examined by a skilled interviewer, as well as mount their own skilled exposition of what they believe. This is a YUGE!!! development. And the bullshit agenda-driven “mainstream press” are NOT happy with this development! They will adapt, or their asses will be ruthlessly kicked. That’s a GOOD thing.

My TV has so much available to view, I can watch Steve Bannon, who they put in prison for 4 months to prove they can. Regular media has lost their control over all.

I personally think podcasts have revived the long- form interview. Furthermore they are unbound by censorship and format restrictions commonly seen in legacy media. Also, at one point legacy media cynically decided that their viewership doesn’t have the attention span required to do long form interviews. Podcasts proved that if there is some real “red meat” in the interview people will watch something longer that a edited, compressed soundbite.

So called mainstream media has rendered itself IRRELEVANT through its non-stop 24/7 lies.

My one remaining leftie friend, whose job at a lobbyist firm it is to monitor major papers and newsfeeds says she doesn't believe most of the content, and has been pretty incensed about man-dudes in skirts beating up girls in girl's sports.

I suspect she pulled the lever for R this time, but she would never admit it.

Unfortunately the columnist didn’t even mention the whole media generated and supported Covid hysteria.

I stopped listening to the media during the budget debate in the House back in 1995, when I first had the opportunity to watch C-Span. I watched the debate, and the next day, what I read and heard from the media was so divorced from what was actually said. It was clearly biased and disparaging of Republicans, and I noticed their choice of words: supportive, positive, agreeable when talking about democrats, negative, derogatory, and fear-mongering when talking about republicans. And the reporting completely distorted the arguments and positions of the two parties.

It was like a slap in the face, like the curtain had been pulled back, and the deception was plain to see. I cancelled my newspaper subscription that day.

I haven’t trusted or listened to the bastards since.

Free speech social media has it’s fare share of fake news which in itself is free speech.

Where the left spew the lies is irrelevant to those who believe it and there’s plenty that believe it.

I think the bigger issue are those finally waking up to those lies which are in your face obvious blatant lies.

Hard not to see the obvious when the left tells you everything is fine when you can see and feel the disaster all around you.

There is a viewer market for a 24/7 news channel with straight factual news reporting and separate, balanced investigative reporting and clearly identified well reasoned editorial. Essentially traditional journalism . This format would allow for long format interview programming. A billionaire could buy CNN or MSNBC, hire objective reporters and reasoned thoughtful interviewers such a Joe Rogan. This network would rapidly pick up viewers.

The problem though is obtaining advertising money sufficient to support the business. Look at the quality of advertising today on the mainstream leftist media versus upstart networks like Newsmax and ONN. Even Fox with its large audience depends on second and third tier advertisers such as My Pillow and gold sellers. The left, through its control of corporate executive suites, corporate boards, social activist groups and advertising agencies keeps the big corporate money from flowing to untraditional broadcast media.

A prime example is Twitter (X) which suffers from an advertising boycott by the left. Without Elon’s personal funding, X would be gone.

In a free market there would be a major news network truly providing fair and banded reporting and straight news. We do not have free markets anymore, we have oligopolies allied with big government who determine how investment capital is disbursed.

The MSM deserve no respect. In the last days before the election they went wild with totally biased headlines and stories about Trump.

We should not give them a penny! I get the New York Post because it’s a refreshing alternative to the dominant media. I won’t EVER pay for the local rag which has lost all credibility.

I jumped onboard FR after the Kenyan was sworn in.

The media bias was so over the top for an inexperienced senator who couldn’t prove that he was an American citizen.
