Vanity: Does Cornyn have a primary challenger for 2026?
11/9/24

I thought I read recently that Cornyn WILL have a primary challenger when he's up for reelection in 26. That should put him in a very bad position to win senate leader (amongst a myriad other reasons).

If he does have a challenger, who is it?

Don’t know if Cornyn has a challenger, but he best BE VERY CAREFUL not to piss off the Republican base, as we’re now MAGA and incumbency is (finally) a negative, and even more so when you have a history like his.

Ted Nugent.

Nah, just kidding.

Elon Musk.

Every time Big John Corny Cornball has a challenger, Midge McConnell opens up his globalist funded war chest and fires off a barrage of lies/smears against said challenger candidate.

Yes. Ken Paxton has let it be known he is coming for Cornyn. I’d bet money Paxton will beat him in the Republican primary.

Why, they never do anything about it. Cornyn deliberately threw three Senate races in 2010, and nothing was done about it.

Mitch is soon out of power (couple months?). Thank you Jesus. I just want to see if someone is stepping to plate to challenge Cornyn and threaten his ability to get the senate leader position.

These people are evil: Cornyn, Thune, McConnell (who gave Larry Hogan MILLIONS and hogan lost by 10% but didn’t give a dime to Kari Lake and screwed Sam Brown too)

“ Yes. Ken Paxton has let it be known he is coming for Cornyn. I’d bet money Paxton will beat him in the Republican primary.”

Phshaw.

Texans let Paxton get into serious legal difficulty over something the DS said about him

Cornyn never has trouble

If that doesn’t say everything you need to know…

I’m gonna drop a truth bomb here. Texas politics is so effing corrupt the only reason we still vote red is because the corporations that own all the politicians including Ted Cruz, Abbott and Patrick know how to play the game damn well. Here in Texas it’s who controls the money … the Hunts, the fosters, etc. etc. those are powerful wealthy billionaires who own practically all of Texas and they say what comes and what goes. And what races the RINOS provided $$ for if it’s a blue city the Republicans will keep their greedy hands off by orders. There is so much corruption that your head would spin. It’s a miracle we still have Texas in our column.

Is Cornyn good on delivering the pork?
My impression is yes. That makes him close to bulletproof electorally.

Unless you’re a billionaire like Trump running against Cornyn then you’ve got a damn good shot but an ordinary citizen with no money to back them up your toast. The Texas RNC will chew you up and spit you out.

“Why, they never do anything about it. Cornyn deliberately threw three Senate races in 2010, and nothing was done about it.”

Didn’t know that, but we’ll see here. As someone else here pointed out, whoever leads the Senate GOP will have to deal with the squishy broads, particularly the one from Alaska, and given that Cornyn has the specter of re-election hanging over his head, he may just not want to get too anti-MAGA this time, as it would leave him seriously vulnerable in his Primary.

you can choose to look at this through the lens of failure or success. Victory or doom.

We have a good shot at this so no need to believe all is lost.
