Florida cops accuse 20 spa workers of prostitution in sting dubbed 'Operation Skin So Soft'

A group of massage therapists in Florida have been arrested amid claims they offered to perform sex acts to undercover detectives during a two-day sting dubbed 'Operation Skin So Soft'. During the two-day operation, which began this past Monday, undercover detectives went to 22 different Asian massage parlors around Polk County to get massages from licensed therapists. But 20 of those women - who are all from the Republic of China - offered sex acts to the detectives completely unprompted. One of the women arrested was said to have 'tried to have full sex' with the detective even after he denied her advances. The name given to the sting - 'Operation Skin So Soft' - was inspired by a compliment given to an undercover officer while they were auditing the massage parlors. 'One of the ladies said "Oh, your skin's so soft. You must work inside,"' Grady Judd, the Polk County Sheriff, said in a press conference. 'Well, sometimes we work in massage parlors.' The large-scale investigation came after Polk County Police conducted an examination of 22 different massage parlors in the Davenport, Dundee, Lakeland and Winter Haven areas to make sure they were in compliance with the law. It was discovered that 12 out of the 22 establishments audited were allegedly participating in illegal activity, including prostitution. It led to the arrests of the women - three of whom were US citizens while the others were here on work visas. 'I don't think the federal government had in mine this kind of work when they gave them a work visa, but they're here anyway,' Judd stated. One of the women, Jinxia Huang, 37, charged $60 for what was supposed to be a legitimate massage.

Or man Officer Grady Judd doing busts.

I have to wonder though how many of these women are victims of human trafficking?

Many or most them. Working to pay off those who brought them here, and it may be a lifetime of indentured servitude or close to it for some.

Republic of China is Taiwan and it probably costs more than $60 there. Why even be here for that work? Unless the article is wrong and they are really from China…

Yeah sometimes we hear that they are held captive - the human trafficker keeps their passports and IDs, keep them living in the same houses together, and put them to “work” with false promises they will be free when their transportation “debt” is paid off. Sometimes they know they work they will be doing, sometimes they are lied to. Bust the traffickers and pimps, not the workers.

No we don’t. NYC had to import one from Texas (Stormy Daniels) for President Trump’s trial.

I heard that this worker snuck out the parlor’s back door as the cops where coming through the front door.

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

The cops should go after the traffickers and not the bedraggled victims of trafficking. Of course that would require courage and determination which is increasingly in short supply.

This is fine if they suspected the prostitutes are victims of human traffiking. If not, the cops should be spending their time on more productive busts. Prostitution and massage parlors aren’t going to disappear because of a bust like this.
