over 0:58 · millions of their fellow California Ians 1:00 · and allowed to work and they use that 1:01 · time to make a lot of bad films and 1:03 · streaming content rude on the riots from 1:05 · the comes next 3:23 · baitman argues the emotional and 3:24 · financial scaffolding necessary to 3:26 · support film business is gone in its 3:29 · place we have something of a conveyor 3:31 · belt churning out content you know 3:33 · Hollywood running to the guy who created 3:35 · the business environment that theirs is 3:36 · failing in is probably not the best 3:38 · strategy aside from the fact that it's 3:40 · going to be a tough sell even to the 3:42 · general populace of California 3:43 · considering all their problems to 3:45 · subsidize professional make belief the 3:48 · question is what rules are these 3:50 · subsidies and tax credits going to come 3:52 · with well that was already answered a 3:54 · year ago from March 1st of last year 3:56 · California's film tax credit aims to 3:59 · punish projects that don't hit diversity 4:01 · goals and there it is the underlying 4:04 · Foundation of many of Hollywood's 4:06 · current problems something the access 4:08 · media won't mention but I will their 4:10 · slavish adherence to the message 4:12 · imposing written and Unwritten rules on 4:14 · themselves in the name of diversity 4:16 · which is truly just exclusion and it's 4:18 · antithetical to all creativity turning 4:20 · an industry that used to produce some 4:22 · pretty good stuff that would 4:23 · occasionally entertain you and make you 4:25 · think into a platform for propaganda and 4:28 · content particularly with with pop 4:30 · culture and genre permeated with people 4:32 · telling you what to think although their 4:34 · attitude will be we're not telling 4:36 · people what to think we're just trying 4:38 · to show them how and now Hollywood finds 4:40 · themselves in a bit of a pickle after 4:42 · going through all that Strife they come 4:44 · out the other end on an election year 4:46 · and the question I had earlier in the 4:47 · year was would Hollywood sit this one 4:49 · out considering all the overall damage 4:51 · to their brand I was getting concerned 4:53 · that we wouldn't get a cringe inducing 4:55 · adult Pretender video better late than 4:58 · never hi hi you guys hi 5:01 · Avengers jumping on the call whoa whoa 5:04 · whoa I think you mean 5:06 · assembling yeah how can we be a service 5:09 · how about we start with h what our 5:10 · voting plans are going to be who we're 5:12 · going to bring to the polls with us that 5:13 · sort of thing just I I think KLA Harris 5:16 · needs a catchphrase oo yes definitely a 5:19 · catchphrase how about this I'm just off 5:22 · the top of my head I can do this all day 5:25 · shut up I hate it okay how about I'm 5:28 · down with democracy clean simple okay I 5:31 · like that it's hard to argue with that 5:33 · kamla Harris down with democracy I don't 5:36 · know if that sounds the way we want it 5:37 · to sound though I think we just need can 5:39 · we get some production though Jarvis my 5:41 · name's not Jarvis but 5:43 · whatever I'm kamla Harris and I am down 5:47 · with 5:50 · democracy you know nothing says reaching 5:53 · out and connecting with the common man 5:55 · like an adult Pretender who was 5:56 · essentially a professional liar who 5:58 · reads and interprets other people's 6:00 · words for a living coming down from 6:01 · their Ivory Towers to read and interpret 6:04 · a poorly written script to tell you how 6:06 · to vote in a badly edited Zoom video I'd 6:08 · also like to point out that they went to 6:10 · the OG team you don't see any new 6:12 · Avengers in that video where's C mulu 6:14 · where's Brie Larson and prior to that 6:16 · the Batman himself Michael Keaton came 6:18 · out with this Banger you know for some 6:20 · of you folks who uh guys mostly I guess 6:23 · who are thinking about attending a rally 6:25 · with musk and and and Trump They Don't 6:28 · Really respect you they laugh at you 6:30 · behind your back they think you're 6:32 · stupid they don't want to hang out with 6:35 · you they have nothing in common with you 6:37 · they're not your Bros they have no 6:40 · respect for you trust me let me get this 6:42 · straight an adult Pretender is telling 6:43 · us not to vote for somebody because they 6:45 · wouldn't hang out with us and they think 6:46 · we're stupid coming from a guy who 6:48 · wouldn't give us the time a day and 6:49 · thinks we're stupid and then there's 6:51 · Harrison 6:52 · Ford the truth is 6:55 · this kamla Harris will I don't care and 6:58 · if you ever wonder what killed the movie 7:00 · star well thanks to social media we got 7:02 · to know them the latest example of that 7:04 · you probably didn't know a Tom Hanks 7:05 · film flopped this weekend but this is 7:07 · balanced out by the very controversial 7:10 · statements from Zachary Levi calling for 7:13 · balance I I don't think it's accurate to 7:17 · say that somehow Hollywood is both a 7:20 · liberal and a conservative Town back in 7:22 · the day there might have been a bit more 7:24 · of a balance you know but you really 7:27 · have to be at a certain level of your 7:28 · career in order to get away with it uh 7:31 · number one but number two that was also 7:34 · back then and I think naming just John 7:37 · vo and Dennis Quaid of the thousands of 7:41 · actors in Hollywood that you could only 7:43 · name two I think actually speaks to that 7:46 · and what that means is there's plenty 7:48 · and by the way they have sent me lots of 7:49 · messages plenty of of people in my 7:51 · industry in Hollywood that are terrified 7:54 · to publicly say that they would vote for 7:56 · Donald Trump or be conservative in any 7:58 · way that's why you don't see them that's 8:00 · why they're not very prevalent or 8:02 · prominent because they know that there's 8:04 · ramifications for this kind of y'all are 8:07 · industry is going to be [ __ ] Gonzo 8:10 · like it's it already is we're getting 8:12 · we're getting eroded the the the the 8:15 · pandemic and the strikes and all of 8:17 · these things they've already eroded it 8:18 · so much my cry to all of you out there 8:22 · you closeted 8:24 · conservatives closeted uh Trump voters 8:27 · y'all it's now or never if what you're 8:28 · afraid of is somehow the backlash of an 8:30 · industry that's not going to exist very 8:32 · soon don't let that hold you back fully 8:34 · acknowledging Zachary Levi coming out 8:36 · and making the statement is far more 8:38 · ballsy than any of his comrades in 8:40 · Hollywood we have to remember that the 8:42 · celebrity endorsement is not going to 8:45 · stop I find it far more disturbing that 8:48 · it would actually sway a vote and I 8:49 · think the biggest takeaway is what he 8:50 · said towards the end if you work in 8:52 · Hollywood don't concern yourself with 8:54 · the backlash of an industry that's not 8:55 · going to exist and again this isn't just 8:58 · some hyperb coming from YouTube or 9:01 · social media this is coming from within 9:03 · the industry Sony Pictures Entertainment 9:05 · CEO Tony Vince quera warned that the 9:06 · deals made with major labor unions are 9:09 · suppressing domestic production the 9:11 · contract terms are forcing Productions 9:13 · out of the US now the air has come out 9:15 · of the content bubble says Matthew 9:16 · balani founder of entertainment industry 9:18 · title Puck news crisis is a good word I 9:21 · try not to be alarmist but crisis is 9:23 · what people are feeling and many of us 9:25 · said that the hardest hit during the 9:26 · strikes would be the working class in 9:28 · Hollywood and that's exactly what 9:30 · happened the losers Film LA noted are 9:32 · rank in file industry workers according 9:34 · to the 2024 otus College report on the 9:36 · creative economy 27% of the nation's 9:38 · domestic film and TV Workforce resides 9:41 · in Greater Los Angeles given these 9:42 · workers heavy dependence on local film 9:44 · making reduced project output raises 9:47 · significant concerns and I think this 9:49 · one almost sums it up other Hollywood 9:51 · vets lament that La is simply no longer 9:53 · a film friendly Hub I would argue that 9:56 · La is no longer a humanfriendly hub it's 9:59 · not any one thing it's Death By A 10:01 · Thousand Cuts speaking of that let's get 10:03 · to my wheelhouse and talk about some 10:04 · genre entertainment because that's where 10:06 · a lot of those cuts come from Hollywood 10:08 · has already destroyed the money pretty 10:10 · machines that were Star Wars Star Trek 10:12 · and Doctor Who just to name a few and 10:14 · they're well on their way to doing it 10:15 · with the superhero film like I said over 10:17 · the past month we've gotten a Litany of 10:19 · soul searching or Naval gazing articles 10:21 · about the destruction of Hollywood from 10:22 · the access media and this is one of them 10:24 · superhero burnout with most superhero 10:27 · movies flopping can Marvel and DC's 2025 10:30 · slate reverse the unprecedented box 10:32 · office drought and this brings up the 10:34 · dreaded superhero fatigue which is a bit 10:36 · of a chicken or the egg argument will 10:38 · people still be drawn to a superhero TV 10:41 · show or movie that's wellmade yes are 10:43 · too many poorly made superhero TV shows 10:46 · and films going to hurt Hollywood's 10:48 · bottom line as a market driver yes 10:51 10 of the 17 superhero titles 11:08 · 59% have made less than $500 million and 11:11 · the rest of the article is essentially 11:13 · going over the things that we've 11:14 · mentioned here on this channel for years 11:16 · DC is essentially rebooting for the 11:18 · third time in a decade Sony making 11:20 · Spider-Man movies without Spider-Man is 11:22 · stupid and Marvel is oversaturated with 11:25 · crap Sony's two films this year Madam 11:28 · Webb and Venom were at least least 11:29 · unintentionally hilarious DC's had six 11:32 · flops in a row going back to last year 11:35 · and after looks at best 11:47 · Highly Questionable and at worst abysmal 11:50 · and it looks like the future of the 11:51 · superhero film hinges on two films that 11:54 · release in July of 2025 Superman and the 11:57 · Fantastic 4 there are no slam dunks here 11:59 · says exhibitor relations analyst Jeff 12:01 · boach there's still a lot of Goodwill 12:02 · for Marvel is there it's the biggest 12:05 · without Captain America 12:14 · and a Thunderbolts film without any of 12:16 · the original Thunderbolts from the 12:17 · comics combined are going to get close 12:19 · to Deadpool and Wolverine I will give 12:21 · credit to DC and Disney Marvel at least 12:22 · they're trying to change that being said 12:25 · I'm far more hopeful for a James gun 12:27 · Superman over a Pedro Pascal Reed 12:29 which is 13:24 · better described as Hollywood fatigue 13:27 · and that death by a th000 paper cuts 13:29 · which includes one gaping mortal wound 13:31 · the problem has been and always will be 13:35 · you hell you guys just put out a movie 13:37 · Joker 2 that literally told the audience 13:39 · to [ __ ] off and they did and they felt 13:42 · like you've been saying that for quite 13:44 · some fandom will turn 13:57 · out to be the costliest mistake in Hol 13:59 · history and you will have to ask 14:00 · yourself collectively as an industry how 14:02 · in the hell did a few people in their 14:04 · spare bedrooms people posting on Twitter 14:06 · and Facebook and other social media 14:08 · accounts know a lot more than your 14:10 · highly paid Market analysts now the 14:12 · industry thanks to your corporate 14:43 · structure you won't be able to do fast 14:45 · enough change but it's undeniable at 14:47 · this point that Tinsel Town is broken up 14:50 · and Hollywood is fleeing I got a deal from one of my credit cards, activated a code to get a 10% kickback, er, bonus?, but to $25, for spending in November -- three categories, restaurant meals, live theater, and movies.
I activated it, and looked at the local theater website. I didn't even recognize any of the ****. Nothing resonated with me.

Where are they heading, and is there a downside to this?
Thanks for the post.
Saved the YouTube link.
Then there was the actress that said she would drink drano, if Trump won. Lots of people were encouraging her to do it. 😀
Hollywood celebs must feel 90 per cent of Americans are sheep who will blindly follow their advice, and the other 10% are flyover country deplorables and who cares about them.
Michael Keaton:”They think you’re stupid.”
Ironically same phrase leads off one of
Ingraham’s books..in a different way.
Harrison Fraud.
Ironically Trump is a celebrity too, though
he has common sense. He used to be eagerly
booked on talk shows and did commercials
and tv and movie cameos. He gave Kevin directions to the front desk of his hotel.
Later when he got into politics, as a Republican, things changed.
Reagan and Trump used to be Democrats (and the Dem party left Ronnie....) By the way
Reagan WAS a damn good movie...
When studios adapted Atlas Shrugged and made the right-leaning comedy An American Carol, critics of course slammed the films. Non woke!
Since Trump indeed is and was a celebrity (the good kind), I found myself thinking up this song parody—to the tune of Lump by (ha) The Presidents of The United States:
He’s Trump, he’s Trump, he’s Trump, the President
He’s Trump, he’s Trump, he’s Trump, that’s
what we meant
Trump is a big celebrity
It was so great when he defeated Hillary...
I watched that with my wife and niece. I asked them, who is that guy? They said they didn’t know. I said, it’s Donald Trump. They said wow, they didn’t recognize him. Then, they did.
Yes. Many are heading to GA for the film tax credits. We have way too much Hollywood in GA now.
Hollywood and Democrats loved Trump right until he came down the escalator as a Republican Presidential candidate in 2015.
“Then there was the actress that said she would drink drano, if Trump won.”
It was Bette Midler, I’m pretty sure. What are the odds she drank Draino?
““Then there was the actress that said she would drink drano, if Trump won.”
I don’t want them to actually off themselves, but if they’re really serious they should renounce their American citizenship and move to any country that will have them. There, they can stew in their righteous indignation among more “enlightened” people, and perhaps find real happiness.
This has been a dismal year for movies. The industry’s big, chronic problems aside, we’re still in the rain shadow of last year’s strikes, which pushed a lot of movies back a year. There are a handful of indie films that I have hopes for, but they’re just starting to emerge. I can’t think of a major studio film that looks promising, although the streamers will pick up the scattering of good indie films for distribution and pass them off as “originals” because the streamer will be the first to air them.
The film industry has been diversifying away from Hollywood for a long time now. California taxes, regulations, deteriorating infrastructure and lifestyle, and general insanity are a big part of it, but the woke nonsense kicked it into high gear.
The sane people are bailing out. At some probably unexpected point, the trickle could become a flood. A lot of the auditioning, at least the initial rounds, is now done through audition tapes and videoconferencing. Why put up with the California nonsense? Even the major studios, which have most of the sunk costs in Hollywood infrastructure, are shifting to other locations and abroad. The little indie films with a writer/director team of one have no reason to shoot in WokeLandia.
Yes, I knew who it was. I just didn’t want to mention her name. I heard she turned off her comments section, because people were telling her to drink the drano, and of course, she didn’t do it.
I like Nerdrotic and I listen to his videos when they come out. He’s spot on and has been talking this for a loooong time. He also moved from CA to get away from the madness there.
A spoonful of Drano powder would probably have to be explained to her, to keep her from trying to do a line.
My pleasure.
Something good that came of this election cycle is that with all the celebrity endorsements, I was able to destroy or delete many of the movies I had that had those celebrities in them. I won’t keep or watch movies with those people in them.
I'm not sure I'd heard of him before, but the vid (what a miracle) turned up in the YouTube recommendations. The Google people must be bitter and hungover and figure nothing matters now. :^D
