If you've ever read the album notes for 2112, there is an opening dedication "to the genius of Ayn Rand." And that is the reason Rolling Stone and other leftist rock critics disliked them for so many decades.

By the way, if you haven't ever read Anthem, you should. Very short, more of a novella. Aa fantastic argument/endorsement of individual liberty, and a frightening picture of what "equity" really means.
