I challenge us with the best ones out there.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated, you'll be solving them all within a few days.

If you're stumped, take a break and return to it. PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and how you made out. You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today's Cryptogram ASK THE GROUP FOR HELP!

I suggest printing these out and work them on paper. If you need a little help you can copy and paste it to Hal's Helper below. You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper, but I recommend that you do NOT look at the letter counter.

One last request. Feel free to post a fun or clever clue, the more tangential to the quotation the better, but please don't put the actual words of the quote in the clue.

Hard one! No clues come readily to mind, so have to resort to the guess-try-guess-try-again method to solve. Hal’s helper is useful for this. Guess correctly the most used letter …. then guess the first 2-letter word until you find one that fits. Then you will have a big key word you can start trying guesses on …. Here’s a clue for that ….

I wouldn’t worry too much if you can’t get an unknown author. I didn’t get the last name of this one either.

I do not worry if I cannot get an author’s name. With various spellings of names, almost impossible to determine some names. Of course, I love it when the author’s name is familiar and assists with completing the puzzle.

I have found that searching for a quote often returns the author as well.

I know that. I was just trying to say that it rea lly doesn’t bother me if I have solved all of the puzzle except the name of a little known author. And posting quotes with little known authors is okay too. Some of the best quotes come from people we have never heard of.
