What About That National Popular Vote Interstate Compact? (VANITY)
rlmorel | 11/5/2024 | rlmorel

According to See BS (CBS) "As of 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Trump edged Harris by a few million votes -- 71,436,910 to 66,364,497..."

"Edged". Hey, what is a few million people in the scheme of things to the Left, after all!

It made me think: "Gee What would have happened to the Electoral College Vote allocation had the dumb-ass Leftists succeeded in getting the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact activated?"

For those of you who don't know, the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact would do the following (according to Wikipedia, of all places):

"The National Popular Vote Interstate Compact (NPVIC) is an agreement among a group of U.S. states and the District of Columbia to award all their electoral votes to whichever presidential ticket wins the overall popular vote in the 50 states and the District of Columbia."

Here are the states that have either signed on to it, or are pending:

If the idiots had somehow got it enacted, in this election, in total, because Trump won the Popular Vote, Trump would receive a total of 488 Electoral Votes out of a possible 538 votes!

This is what it looks like at this time:

If the idiots had their way, it would gloriously look like this (worst case scenario, if Trump loses Alaska, Arizona, and Michigan :

Just so nobody misunderstands me-this "National Popular Vote Interstate Compact" is another idiotic, corrupt Leftist construct like Ranked Choice Voting, and I was naturally concerned when I heard about this some years ago, and there were all these states in on it. Leftists assumed they would always have the popular vote locked up. (another dumb ass conclusion by Leftists)

They want to go to a popular election for reasons that should be clear to everyone by now. They hate the flyover states, and the Popular Vote is the way to negate them.

But I must say...it might almost have been worth it to have it enacted, just this once. Just once.

So we could thank those voters in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan, Maine, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and Hawaii for voting to put Donald Trump back in the White House as the 47th President!

Just this one time.

I thought of this issue last night. It deprives it of its main argument. Leftists never give up the thoughts they fixate on, so I think this just puts it in deep freeze for the next four years

Mrs rktman has a similar plan. That being, one county=one electoral vote. Kowmala will probably end up with PTSD from a double Jan 6 whammy. Remembrance of the ‘insurrection’ and having to certify Trump on Jan 6. Awwwwwwww!

It was a fun consideration. I am always saddened by any opportunity to see them step on their own crank!

Why isn’t this concept considered unconstitutional?

Yes. It will be most interesting to see what happens between now and then.

In many contests of all kinds, it is not uncommon to see someone losing a battle, and the entity winning the battle uses every technique at its disposal to put them in an even worse situation.

However, it is also not uncommon to see the situation reversed (as in collegiate wrestling) where someone who is getting pressed to the mat is suddenly on top, and they are using the exact same, inexorable techniques to push their adversary onto their own back.

It will be interesting to see.

Exactly — if that gets passed by the required number of states, there will probably NEVER be a Demagogic Party POTUS EVER AGAIN. How do we contribute to the effort?

Wikipedia:

[snip] Introduced in 2006, as of April 2024, it has been adopted by seventeen states and the District of Columbia. These jurisdictions have 209 electoral votes, which is 39% of the Electoral College and 77% of the 270 votes needed to give the compact legal force. [/snip]

For one thing, nothing that doesn’t remove the 3 electoral votes from DC isn’t a reform (23rd Amendment was ratified in 1961).

This will end talk of the compact for 10 or 20 years.

It damn well should be unconstitutional. But they haven’t been able to get red states to sign on to it, which is apparent from the map, so...it has never been enacted formally and bindingly.

Apparently, it is a “State’s Rights” issue, and this is their idea to get out from under the terrible (for their schemes) Electoral College.

After all, today’s Leftists are much smarter than our Founders were, right????

As of this morning, Trump won over 51.1% of the popular vote. Since the only precincts still “counting votes” are democrat controlled, I expect that percentage to drop, but not enough to fall much below 51%.

The last democrat to get over 51% of the popular vote was Obama in 2008. Before Obama, the last democrat to get over 51% was LBJ in 1964. Before LBJ, the last democrat to get over 51% was FDR in 1944. Before FDR, the last democrat to get over 51% was Andrew Jackson in 1832.

I surely hope it does. I was a bit horrified when I read of it, because it is exactly the kind of stinking legal loophole Leftists aim for.

This is soooo stupid.

Was speaking of how Dems shoot themselves in the foot with out son. This is one idea (not realized yet) that would do exactly that.

Apparently these jackasses are so confident that Dems always win popular (which they have often) that this concept will help them overcome the hated electoral college.

I’ll have to remember this later to tell him.

Prime example was the Special Independent Counsel. They didn’t like it when it was turned on them.

I will be happy if it is even ONE vote over them!

Seriously, we know why. It is because their policies from the Left have no popular mandate. It is why they have to lie about everything, and they do just that.

Democrat candidates have to hide their intentions on every subject ranging from Election Reform to Fracking, because normal people don’t agree with them.

The only reason they get any kind of popular votes at all is because there are still tens of millions of sheeple who watch the media and listen to politicians on the Left, and don’t consider or even understand they are being manipulated.

It is the way they do business, and Kamala Harris and Walz are an object example.

Because….it was made by Democrats.

If Democrats think it’s great, then it’s “constitutional”..

As a Marylander, I was angry hearing about this garbage years ago. They want to totally ensure my vote counts for nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Never mind how many Dem citizens 2-1 that will be pissed when they threw their EVs to Trump despite Harris winning Maryland. LOL

EXACTLY. Just like the concept of the “Nuclear Option” in the Senate judicial appointment process.

Harry Reid changed it, while Republicans warned him, begged him and his allies NOT to do it, but...he did it anyway.

And then, to see it used against them when we had control was delicious. And fitting.

To see them squirm in white hot anger at what they had done to themselves. With no recourse.

Well, it is a legal compact, simply because it is a state’s rights thing, and nothing expressly stops them from doing it in a given state.

Which to exploit it, is exactly how they work.

It is why our Republic is in great danger.

Conservatives are like the people, tasked with guarding a dike holding back the ocean, looking for leaks. When we find one, we have to plug it. We have to be vigilant, always. Ready to act, always.

Leftists are like the great, black, vast ocean at night, pressing against the earthen dike everywhere, always, looking for weaknesses and cracks. They have lidless eyes. They never sleep. They never take a break. They never go on vacation. They never do anything else. All they do is press, in the dark depths, where nobody can see them, looking for a way to subvert the dike.

The pressure is constant, ubiquitous, and unrelenting, looking for a way to crumble the dike in their favor.

When they find a crack, they exploit it effortlessly.

Often, when WE, the watchers, find a crack or weakness, it is too late to undo the damage done as occurred in the 2024 election. By the time we saw the water seeping in, the clock had started ticking, the damage was done, and we could not roll it back.

The electoral college was designed to protect the small states from being dominated by the large ones in a national election. If any small state signs on to the his compact, the fools who led that movement should be recalled from office.
