Little Green Footballs thanks yes! just posted
man..just read it...that gave me goose bumps...what a night that was.
I had it bookmarked in my links so was able to find it quickly.
Those were glorious days on FR.
Shame Commie Redford is in it... (surprised, actually)
Makes sense, since Commie Redford is in it.
Good memory... that was an amazing night.
Buckhead and TankerKC... the real internet factcheckers.
Destroyed Mary Mapes, too.
From another thread a couple months ago:
“... On September 8, 2004, CBS’s “60 Minutes” used forged government documents as the basis for a story that attacked the military record of then-President George W. Bush. It was bad enough that CBS used forged government documents, but what made it worse was that CBS aired this story during the presidential election and timed the airing to coincide with the rollout of Democrat John Kerry’s “favorite son” campaign theme. CBS thus provided the “news” upon which the Democrat candidate based his attack ads. The CBS story was quickly disproven and eventually forced CBS into personnel changes and investigations. Dan Rather was forced into retirement a few months later. But CBS did not give up before a lengthy battle in which bloggers demonstrated that the font and other features in the forged documents did not exist in 1972 (the date placed on the forgeries)....”

“Truth” is a movie from the commie conspirators’ viewpoint/perspective about the attempt to “October Surprise” G. W. Bush with ‘fake but true’ documents about Bush’s National Guard service. The movie tries to imply that all of them were simply innocent and doing their jobs as ‘journalists’. Short critic’s appraisal: Hogwash.
I still have that gif.
Jet, you are 100% correct. There were others who tried to get their 15 minutes of fame by saying online that they had found it first. Time-Stamps proved all of them wrong. ;-)

Buckhead to Howlin
Howlin, every single one of these memos to file is in a proportionally spaced font, probably Palatino or Times New Roman.
In 1972 people used typewriters for this sort of thing, and typewriters used monospaced fonts.
The use of proportionally spaced fonts did not come into common use for office memos until the introduction of laser printers, word processing software, and personal computers. They were not widespread until the mid to late 90’s. Before then, you needed typesetting equipment, and that wasn’t used for personal memos to file. Even the Wang systems that were dominant in the mid 80’s used monospaced fonts.
I am saying these documents are forgeries, run through a copier for 15 generations to make them look old.
This should be pursued aggressively.”

We had just finished dinner at the Amigo Spot Restaurant. Mrs. Chandler and our daughter went off to our room to go to sleep. I grabbed a giant marquerita at the Cantina Bar and just kept shoveling the quarters in like a slot machine.
Here is the Rathergate thread from Free Republic on 9/9/04.

Then other sites picked up the ball. Powerlineblog was one. And, the rest is history.

John Kerry has a long history of making up false allegations... from 1971 through the Iran Contra affair.
Him and Biden both.
It's still available for viewing. I found it a while back, but can't find it now by doing a search. Maybe somebody else has that link saved. I was following the thread that night during the program.
Thank you very much ❤
