LOUISVILLE, Ky., Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Rumor says that Gen. HOOD with thirty thousand men crossed the Tennessee River going Northward to-day.
The particulars and locality of the crossing are not stated, and are not attainable at present.
The railroad and telegraph from Louisville to Atlanta are now in good order.
The Henderson, Kentucky, News says that the great bulk of the drafted men in Kentucky are going into the Confederate service.
R.A. ALEXANDER's celebrated horse Osterer, valued at $18,000, was captured at Bloomfield, Kentucky, yesterday by the rebels.
SECOND DISPATCH.
LOUISVILLE, Wednesday, Nov. 2.
Reliable dispatches, received this morning, indicate that everything is all right along SHERMAN's whole line.
FROM CAIRO.
CAIRO, Ill., Tuesday, Nov. 1.
Squads of FORREST's men, who passed through Dresden yesterday, stated that an engagement had occurred between a portion of FORREST's force and the forces under Cols, HATCH and SHELBY, last week, in which FORREST's men were routed, with the loss of their arms, ammunition, baggage and many horses.
The locality of the fight is not stated.
Strong reinforcements of mounted infantry have arrived at Paducah, Ky., which it is believed has caused Gen. FORREST to change his plan of operations. Johnsonville is now thought to be the place where the rebels will make their attack.
The rebel Gens. BUFORD, CHALMERS and LYON held a consultation at Paris, Tennessee, on Friday last.
All of Gen. FORREST's men furloughed or straggling through the country are ordered to rendezvous at Jackson, Tennessee.
The steamers Oder Nanghock, reported captured by the rebels on the Tennessee River, have arrived safely at Paducah.
The steamer captured and burned by the rebels at Fort Herman, on the Tennessee River, on Saturday, was the Mazeppa.
She was a new steamer, and making her first trip.
