Denny’s is closing 150 restaurants over the next year, and the 71-year-old diner chain is mulling a major change to its 24/7 operating hours.
Fifty locations are set to close by the end of 2024, while the remaining 100 will shutter in 2025, Denny’s announced in an earnings call Tuesday. That amounts to a tenth of its restaurants, leaving 1,375 locations once completed. A specific list of closing restaurants weren’t immediately announced.
Denny’s is targeting “underperforming restaurants” that are weighing down the company’s financial performance, according to Steve Dunn, Denny’s executive vice president and chief global development officer. The affected locations are either too old to be remodeled or in areas that have become unprofitable.

Buyden economics.
White Castle was my after-midnight-drunk-food place of choice....
Those restaurant businesses that survived the COVID sham should have recovered by now. Yes, this is ALL on Biden/Harris.
I know...I just get all those things mixed up...
I won’t miss them. Haven’t eaten there until I got food poisoning.
We dined there about 10 years ago and as I walked out the door the sudden urge to instantly use the bathroom hit. We got in our car and left. As we drove out the parking lot the pressure to use the bathroom was enormous. I raced to a nearby truck stop and my hamstrings were about to pop as I opened the bathroom door.
Seriously, I was sick, real sick. My stomach ached for a couple days after.
The best place of all to dine is in your own home with fresh store bought ingredients. You have no idea what low paid low life is in the back of a greasy spoon outfit cooking for you.
I knew a guy that bragged about being a fast food cook where he hawked up oysters and spit them onto hamburgers.
I won’t disagree that Denny’s food can be questionable, but it wouldn’t have affected you gastrically that quickly. Food-borne illness takes at least 15 hours or more to do its damage. You were likely infected by a bug many hours before. The food wouldn’t have helped, though.
Every eatery that caters to .....s is going broke.
Ate breakfast there the other day for the first time in years. Like everything else prices were crazy. Two people, basic breakfast, eggs, bacon, toast, hash browns, and o.j. came to a little over $40.
Waffle House.
I don’t know. I’ve answered a whole lot more fighting and shooting calls at Waffle House than I have at Denny’s.
That said, I do love Waffle House’s menu.
We had a couple of STABBINGS in my small town Denny’s.
$20 per meal is pretty standard at any restaurant these days.
Denny’s is the only place in my area where you can get a really good double cheese burger at a fair price.
I’d be happy to eat at Dennys...if Dennys was still Dennys. The food at todays Dennys makes me feel like shit as does eating out almost anywhere. IHOP same way. Any fast food...same.
$20 for a breakfast is flat out robbery.
Dennys often attaches to a truck stop store like Flying J. That’s the motivation behind 24/7.
Truckers communicate. The Denny’s there has to be good or they spread the word.
You can eat at In n Out pretty securely, AND their prices haven’t sky rocketed like all others. My Grandson works there and it’s very tightly controlled. They pay well and it’s managed well. If it weren’t good and safe he wouldn’t bother eating the free meal they get every day.
I won't argue with you. Cost at home for the same food would be about $3.50. And that's for higher quality ingredients.
Obviously the prices are a bit out of date.....
