A memo circulating among at least half a dozen advisers to former President Donald J. Trump recommends that if he is elected, he bypass traditional background checks by law enforcement officials and immediately grant security clearances to a large number of his appointees after being sworn in, according to three people briefed on the matter.
The proposal is being promoted by a small group including Boris Epshteyn, a top legal adviser to Mr. Trump who was influential in its development, according to the three people.
It is not clear whether Mr. Trump has seen the proposal or whether he is inclined to adopt it if he takes office.
But it would allow him to quickly install loyalists in major positions without subjecting them to the risk of long-running and intrusive F.B.I. background checks, potentially increasing the risks of people with problematic histories or ties to other nations being given influential White House roles. Such checks hung up clearances for a number of aides during Mr. Trump’s presidency, including Mr. Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and Mr. Epshteyn himself.
The proposal suggests using private-sector investigators and researchers to perform background checks on Mr. Trump’s intended appointees during the transition, cutting out the role traditionally played by F.B.I. agents, the three people said. Once Mr. Trump took the oath, he would then summarily approve a large group for access to classified secrets, they said.
Asked about the proposal, Steven Cheung, a spokesman for the Trump campaign, responded with an attack on Vice President Kamala Harris, saying she and Democrats “have weaponized the Department of Justice to attack President Trump and his supporters” and that Mr. Trump would use “the full powers of the presidency” to build his administration starting on Inauguration Day.

Given what the FBI has done to Trump and his associates and supporters, this would be very understandable.
Why would the FBI need to issue clearances when they’re no longer going to exist once Trump fires all their corrupt asses?
I find this interesting.
There’s this Iranian woman suspected of spying for the Iranian’s and leaked out information vital to Israel. I really don’t think she was properly vetted.
With this case in mind, I’d say Trump granting a clearance would be best. Do a simple background check similar to what one gets when buying a gun, and that’s it.
When Billy Jeff Clinton was elected, dozens of his nominated staff could not pass background checks, and especially could not pass drug screening. Eventually he got around this process by putting them in positions that did not require any investigation or vetting.
The FBI tried to kill ya’ Don...Just sayin’
I think this is an excellent idea.

I agree completely. I’ve always suspected that national DEEP STATE intelligence/law enforcement agencies TAKE THEIR SWEET TIME completing background investigations on Trump candidate appointees. They do that to delay as long as possible Trump’s beginning to make NEEDED changes in the various agencies and departments. If anything derogatory is later brought to light by the background investigations appointees can always have their clearances withdrawn and be replaced by new appointees.
He could pick random people out of the phonebook, give them a voir dire as if they were to sit on a jury, and end up with better candidates than most of those the deep state advisers would suggest.
Yes! I have said as much many times! Federal agencies could be run by plumbers from Peoria. Just do less! It’s not hard to do less! All of the “experts” with “decades of Washington experience” are the problem. Trump REALLY needs to get them out of power.
The two-faced double-talk BS they come up with! FBI checks did not stop the following anti-Americans who have deep "problematic histories and ties to other nations"...
Trump is bypassing the enemy from within
I’m all for it. FBI background checks are BS anyway. They speak to people who know you and write down anything the person says about you.
Well FWIW they will drag out the process as long as they can get away with. I’d be shocked if previous administrations did not at least grant interim clearances while the FBI investigated.
An excellent book was “Unlimited Access” by Gary Aldrich, the FBI agent who was in charge of vetting White House and Cabinet members for security access.
But it was a sh*t show during the Clinton White House.
Our security system needs a major overhaul. Kash Patel in his book discussed how they had an endeavor to fix it, have common security classifications across all the intelligence agencies, and it was crushed by Biden when he was selected for office.
The deep state and Democrats slow walked Trump appointees during his first term blocking Trump’s ability to form a government. Trump should side step these delaying tactics and get straight to punishing his enemies. Time is short, the enemies list is long.
Or the folks at the alphabet agency from just holding up his nominations so the Biden admin can work on shredding and deleting files.
I think its a great idea.
I think this is reasonable here. Especially since I would be dissolving or redefining the FBI as one of the earliest acts.
After what the FBI did to sabotage General Flynn and the rest of the Trump transition Trump would have to be crazy to go through them again.
Trump needs to take a lesson from Ronald Reagan. Reagan had to defeat the Rockefeller Republicans before he could deal with Jimmy Carter and Reagan had to deal with both Democrats and Republicans who hated his guts and wanted to see him fail
Reagan had what maybe the best thought out and organized transition in modern history.
Within minutes of being sworn in, Reagan loyalists descended on the executive branch with Reagan loyalists with military precision and they were in firm control of all the agencies in a matter of hours
It was literally as close to a legal coup as can happen in the US
Trump needs to have a very well organized and disciplined transition team of loyal and reliable operatives completely remove the Biden holdovers from any and all key positions and assume control within minutes of Trump being sworn in
They need to execute a plan to completely remove any holdovers from positions of power and remove them from the premises. Once in control, they need to neuter the people left before they can do any damage
