Not true and I’ve done the data collection with actual cells to show that. Photo cells are stimulated by photons. Doesn’t matter whether they are direct or back scatter.
In space direction matters because the surrounding space is cold black. In the atmosphere that’s not the case.
Easy solution. Hire a lawyer to write a check.
Shyster solar system person who sold the panels to them would have known this .
If not, a nighttime catapult to launch a water balloon filled with roundup into the tree works well.
Can you make your neighbor cut down a tree? If your neighbor’s tree is stopping the sun from shining on your solar panels, the first big question to ask is whether it was in place before you put the panels up.
Plant the tree and enjoy it. the panels will be removed long before your tree is a problem.
Nonsense. I see every day what happens when my panels are eclipsed by shade, despite blue sky in much of the sky. And, as if common sense wasn’t enough to tell you, the insolation meter falls to near zero.
I have 35K to spend on solar panels I hope they work.
So does that mean you get to tell your neighbor to cut down his tree? We are talking past each other. Believe what you want or whatever your rip off solar company tells you based on their meter which is probably ripping you off.
And what the hell is an insolation meter?
LOL! If only...
A true conundrum.
My recommendation is to do your homework. Solar panels work for my area; with my power consumption habits. But that’s not the case for many people.
Some neighbors can be jerks.
So they walk by your “no soliciting” signs to try and sell you something. According to what you wrote the solar panels only cost $200 a month for 10 years, how much is your electric bill? I’ve seen people get their home owners policy cancelled because the had panels on the roof. What happens if you move after 5 years? Are the new buyers going to want solar?
Right??!! My power bills were sometimes $50-$125 a month but with the solar panels, they would instead be around $200? Scratches my head.....
PLUS, I live on the coast where hurricanes abound. What happens if they are damaged and the solar panel company I used is out of business? Wouldn’t I have to pay for the loan still??? And, yes, I would worry about the roof warranty being canceled with them on it.
To hell with Your solar crap.
Man has a right to have trees on His property.
Very welcome and totally agree with your post. I just cheat on my taxes to thwart the man. (just kidding, in my work it’s impossible to cheat) Happy FReeping!
This is an interesting point, and one not commonly understood. Our back roof faces due south, which means that the other side faces directly north. I thought that only the southern roof would be useful for solar panels, but the installer assured me otherwise. We installed 29 panels, 15 on the southern roof and 14 on the northern exposure. We get a daily/weekly/monthly and yearly report on the production of each panel from Enphase, and, to my surprise, the northern-facing panels generate almost 2/3 as much as we get from the panels on the southern side of the roof.
All true. Though the solar salesmen will happily sell you their panels for any roof you want, south, north, east, west. Heck, they will sell you ones for your basement. :)
