A recent string of lawsuits by the Department of Justice (DOJ) against police and fire departments could serve as a blueprint for erasing physical and mental standards in the name of equity.
The DOJ settled two lawsuits and filed a third against local departments in October accusing them of discrimination after black applicants disproportionately failed to pass cognitive written tests and female applicants struggled to pass physical tests. The DOJ deemed the tests discriminatory due to the results, despite applicants of all races and both genders being subject to the same standards.
The three lawsuits, all filed within weeks of each other, could be just the start as a Harris administration would accelerate the process “10x,” one expert told the Daily Caller.
Under an early October settlement, Maryland’s State Police (MDSP) will pay previously denied applicants over $2.75 million in backpay after the DOJ launched a probe into “racially discriminatory hiring and promotion practices.” (RELATED: Biden-Harris DOJ Makes Maryland Hire Fat Female Cops)
The DOJ complaint alleges MDSP’s use of a written test called the Police Officer Selection Test (POST) “disproportionately excluded African-American applicants” and that its use of the Functional Fitness Assessment Test (FFAT) “disproportionately excluded female applicants.”
Of the twelve academy classes that MDSP has graduated since 2017, 91% of their white applicants passed the POST compared to only 71 percent of black applicants, according to the DOJ.
This, the DOJ alleges, “has had an adverse impact on African-American applicants for the trooper position.”
Additionally, the FFAT, which consists of push-up and sit-up tests, a 1.5 mile run and a flexibility test, saw a markedly lower pass rate for female applicants. Men passed at an 81 percent clip while women only passed 51 percent of the time since 2017, according to the DOJ....SNIP

A few years ago, I saw a “little person” in firefighter clothing. It looked like he was teaching a water safety course to other firefighters, in the park. Of course, he was white. Perhaps the new policies will get some black midgets on the team.

I remember in the early 70’s when they began this quest to Lower Standards. It has turned out as expected, a giant shit show of unqualified idiots and a large percentage are just plain amoral thugs with gang banger attitudes.
A perfect example of ‘equality of outcome’ over ‘equality of opportunity’...but with very real, and dangerous, consequences.

A comprehensive employment study from years ago cited three types of people to beware of when interviewing. Young, morbidly obese people who are otherwise healthy individuals, should be a concern.. In most cases, they have psychological and emotional reasons for their obesity. Their “sick days” and lateness are considerably above the norm. They tend to have more grievances and complaints, plus they have consistent conflicts with other employees
I am thrilled to now live in a town that has a volunteer fire department and disbanded its police department several years ago.
Meh, it mostly affects Urban areas where the cops are nothing more than window dressing anyway. Anymore, in places like the US cities, cops are utterly useless.
Of course, as time goes on, the same bollox will happen to small towns and rural areas. Won’t matter their either. No one I know in the small town I live in bothers to call the cops when something happens. There aren’t enough cops to matter anymore. And in small Texas towns, you call the cops and get the Mexican police force. Roly Poly little guys in taco stained uniforms who can barely understand much English at all.
When I see percentages used, it waves a big red flag for me.
Is there any likelihood that there are way more white males applying and, because of DEI, fewer are selected to take the tests leaving only the cream of the crop taking the tests.
Conversely, the black and female applicants are selected to take the tests with lesser starting qualifications. Of course a higher percentage of lesser qualified applicants will bust out than highly qualified applicants.
The same study should be done using the total number of applicants from each group, not just the ones selected to take the tests.

I told some lady firefighters to roll some hose after a fire since they didn’t help put a fire out, I got punished for my situational awareness.
