There are valid reasons to get out of jury duty, and the Cowboys allegedly attempted to get Aubrey out of it. However, it was Aubrey who insisted that he be a good citizen and see it through.

Whether he thought he would be selected to the jury is unknown, but there is no backing out now.

How much time in weekly practices does a kicker really need? I mean, it’s not like he has to go through a lot of new plays installed for the week’s gameplan.

Haven’t most of Dallas’s points this year come from field goals?

Amazing - an NFL player eligible for jury duty because he doesn't have a felony record.

It figures that he's a rookie. (Yes, while he's played soccer and USFL football previously, he's an NFL rookie).

He may yet still get excused from jury duty if one of his teammates is the defendant.

All he needed to was to claim to not be a citizen. In Texas jurors are called from the voter rolls and everybody getting a drivers license gets registered to vote because of the RATs “Motor-Voter Law” signed by Bill Clinton. When I had jury duty I saw lots of people get out by claiming not to be citizens.
