To the shock of the state of North Carolina, where my wife Nancy and I have lived since 2003, Hurricane Helene wreaked massive devastation, taking at least 118 lives with at least 92 still missing. No one saw this coming, and it has brought unimaginable suffering to whole communities living in the mountains of our state, where horrific, unprecedented flooding wiped out little towns and destroyed countless homes, businesses, and roads.
To this moment, many residents remain without power, and it is almost impossible to access some of the hardest hit areas.

MY Opinion) : The floods hit on 9/27/2024
(From a prior posting)"FEMA Spokesman on Fox interview 10-14-2024 said that the Governor has to request FEMA.
Governor Roy Cooper was partying in New York and did not call in FEMA Search and Rescue
causing many people who could have been rescued to lose their lives."
What a travesty by Governor Roy Cooper !
Amen 🙏🏻!
May Governor Cooper be voted out in the next election!
“Support Samaritans Purse and not that other National relief agency that will divert funds to other programs which it has.
Put your money where it will do some good for those in need !”
Indeed. After losing everything in the arson proven Almeda urban fire, Samaritan’s purse was the only NGO that actually tried to help. I was stuck 4 hours away and couldn’t meet with them when they went through the burn of my home.
Sadly my relatives weren’t as kind. My granddaughter met them there but never mentioned it and threw out everything because it was in her way. She took pictures and gave those to me a year later. I was devastated... jewelry, momentos that I would cherish having.
Yes my family are thoughtless cretins.
Samaritan’s Purse is one of the most highly rated charities where the majority of every dollar is for emergency use and not for executive salaries. Code of Vets is another one. They typically focus on utilities, rent etc. but I’m guessing with these storms, they’ll be getting more requests. $0.97 of every dollar goes to Vets.
good to see positive ink about an organization I am about to contribute some IRA money to . . .
The check is ready for the mailbox.
You are right!
We need to find a good candidate...starting now
