No, everything reported on FR these days is caused by DEI or NAZIs.
Welding problems are not all that uncommon. Welds are routinely x rayed to confirm quality. I would guess a “journalist” discovered a body of X rays of unsatisfactory welds and jumped to the sabotage conclusion.
The real problem is a shortage of qualified welders. current and recent generations don’t like to work and welding is work

Other than inspectors, substandard or wrong materials are among the overlooked (here) other possibilities than blaming the welders.

The inspectors should inspect AND SIGN OFF ON every critical weld. Why are they not accountable?
Maybe they did. The other possibility is the welding material itself. The inspectors would not be able to tell if the wrong welding materiel was used.

Not enough inspectors
Too many deadlines.
Sometimes these are judgement calls. There are a lot of things to be balanced. Report said they are noncritical areas.
An inspector after the fact from another company has more time and incentive to find a problem. Someone with no practical experience.
Every had your house inspected?
Every weld should have a name and an inspector tagged to it.
