Someone tried to rob an off duty sheriff
The off-duty deputy pulled out his own gun and fired several shots toward the offender.
No one was hit. ...And no one can explain the burning SUV or if that was just a coincidence.
There’s a plot twist to report. ... we have learned that a man with five gunshot wounds arrived at Rush Hospital in an Uber about 30 minutes after the shooting.

We should make the deputy a range guy.
Five shots and could not drop the guy? Geesh. If he is from a hunting community his career as sheriff is ended.
I see cops at the pistol range I frequent getting in their range time on Saturdays sometimes I’m. Most really suck. I can’t imagine how they manage to hit so many dogs.
Someone showed up to a nearby hospital 30 minutes later with five gunshot wounds saying he was shot in the vicinity of the attempted robbery of the off duty Cook County Deputy. Not bad, 5 hits if this was the Deputy’s doing.
One thing about most stories like this they fail to tell what caliber was involved or the weight/size of the guy that was shot. I could see a 250 pound guy absorbing five shots from a.25 caliber and then going to the hospital if no vitals were hit.
The deputy should have been shooting illegal Black Talon Ammo, deadly bullets that didn’t need a gun to kill.
Guy was bleeding all over somebody’s car/uber.
Hope the driver gave him a one star review.
it happens- a video on a cop show showed a deranged man with a knife rush an officer who unloaded his pistol almost point blank into the midsection and chest of the man who kept coming towards him and even walked away when the officer’s gun ran out of ammo- (Though I’m sure he didn’t make it too far)

The dummies should know to torch the stolen car AFTER they are finished with it, not while they are attempting their getaway.
Was the burning SUV a EV ? The combustion could have been self inflicted.

Off Duty Cops in Brazil are legendary , there are many videos where they blast the evil doers.
