Meteorologists hit with death threats after debunking hurricane conspiracy theories

Meteorologists say they’ve been getting death threats for debunking wild conspiracy theories that they and the government are somehow behind the devastating hurricanes ravaging the US.

“Murdering meteorologists won’t stop hurricanes,” Katie Nickolaou, a Michigan-based meteorologist, wrote on X earlier this week alongside a screenshot of one threat she’d received.

“I can’t believe I just had to type that.”

The post aimed at Nickolaou, who works at the WLNS TV station, had called for others to “stop the breathing of those that made them and their affiliates.”

Meanwhile, Washington, DC-based meteorologist Matthew Cappucci said he has received hundreds of messages from people accusing him of modifying the weather to create hurricanes with space lasers.

“For me to post a hurricane forecast and for people to accuse me of creating the hurricane by working for some secret Illuminati entity is disappointing and distressing — and it’s resulting in a decrease in public trust,” Cappucci told Rolling Stone.

And veteran Alabama meteorologist James Spann said he too has faced a barrage of threats warning him: “Stop lying about the government controlling the weather or else.”

When I was in college and had the time, I use to read all the news magazines. They would report on governments doing research on weather control. That was thirty years ago. I assume they have made progress.

We see posts like this.
“Nobody can tell me that hurricane just before the election was a coincidence. They had this all coordinated in advance”

A nuclear bomb detonated in the eye of a hurricane would do absolutely nothing. A hurricane uses the power of megatons every minute just to spin. The power involved is unbelievable and humans have nothing to come even close to it. There is no way Bill Gates is “making” hurricanes.

First, let’s see the alleged letters sent to this guy. Secondly, why would anyone go through the trouble and energy of writing a handwritten or typed letter to this schmoe? Hundreds? Really?

While everyone was not looking, the very next day, this happened.

Disagree....Our local meteorologists never mention it as cause...never...

And every person on earth has to acknowledge that climate change has occurred since the beginning of time.

This one is emerging as true to some degree.

No it isn’t. Only the people that want to ignore the obvious that they are water vapor in a fairly stable layer of air. I’m more convinced that it’s more likely that the CIA knows that they can find a significant portion of the population that can be easily convinced that they are seeding the skies just to spread some more fear of what the government can do. After all it’s the CIA mission to convince the public that everything they know is false. There’s probably a special branch that sits around laughing at the obsurdities they’ve got the public to believe.

So do you use their forecasts and accept the exact opposite of what is predicted as what’s going to happen? That would be logical and according to you it would be 100% accurate.

There is a small but vocal contingent on FR that does believe the government is using lasers or microwave to control the weather. They believe in any thing Alex Jones has to say.

There are even highly educated people that believe this crap. Critical thinking is a thing of the past.

I remember when “El Nino” became a popular term with weather men back in the 1980s.
There was an early fall snowstorm in East Colorado-Nebraska-Kansas area, something common in that area.
Our local weather chick, a thousand miles from there stood out on a local empty dark parking lot and said...”The question that is on everyone’s mind...(then looking straight into the camera with a look of terror on her face)....”IS THIS EL NINO?”
I had to suppress the urge to throw a boot at the TV.

“No it isn’t. “

Yes it is.

But Waredbird is convinced the CIA and a room full of spooks is sitting around laughing...

Irony much?

Find me one airline or airline pilot that would accept contaminants in their fuel. Or an airline that would carry extra weight on a flight. Do you know anything about the stratosphere? You are obviously ignorant in your understanding of the physics of the atmosphere but the real irony is you wish to put it in writing proving it.

My daughter’s father in law and I are on good terms.

He was a military pilot in the 80s (army reserve—flew choppers and F-4s) then retired and was a UPS pilot for 20x years and retired.. again..yeah makes good money.

The guy sleeps, eats and dreams airplanes.

I asked him about this contrail crap and he said he has never spoken to ANY pilot in his life that knew it to happen or even knew of a pilot that knew it to happen.

These guys who push this outlandish stuff probably couldn’t even describe the butterfly effect in meteorology without looking it up.

And ANYone that believes in this flat earth crap is a dummy. We go to Cozumel every year or 2 (wife and I). Across from Cozumel about 7-10 miles is Playa Del Carmen. When we stay in our room in our Tower (say 20th floor) You can almost see the bottom of the buildings in Playa Del Carmen, when you walk to the beach you can only see the upper floors.

GEE I wonder why that is???

My apologies, I didn’t know I was speaking to such a highly intelligent individual. Thanks for letting me know.

You should put your IQ in your tagline so everyone knows who they are dealing with right off the bat.

One thing you may consider, albeit coming from someone that is not nearly as intelligent or good looking as yourself, there have been several recent articles regarding spraying salt into the atmosphere... is that the right word? Atmosphere? I hate trying to sound smart when talking to Einstein reincarnated. One was from a ship in the SF bay, I do believe. Maybe check it out.

There have also been several recent revelations that pilots are flying planes and igniting salt flares into the... here I go again, atmosphere.

I just read another article that the rain in Dubai they think was caused by cloud seeding.

I don’t know what a stratosphere is, you got me. If I had to guess it would be the immediate area around your head? just guessing.

I think you and Waredbird are going to be eating some crow someday soon.

Spraying chemicals from the air isn’t even that much of a stretch. Much more likely than greys.

“Find me one airline or airline pilot that would accept contaminants in their fuel.”

I can find you a bunch that would accept contaminants in their own blood... does that count?

I think your agent orange is acting up.

Thanks for the compliment. I’m not quite as good looking as I once was but I have put lifts in my shoes to compensate.

I’m guessing your really not interested in my comments on your reading library, but I’ll go for it anyway. The salts you are referring to are probably silver iodide flares. This compound is commonly used to seed clouds with.

As an former participant in weather modification activities, let me say weather modification is hard. The articles and headlines you see lead you to believe all you got to do is seed and it works. The “ atmosphere “ combined with earth and the sun make weather modification very complicated. Some low energy level weather events can be modified and have been verified by actual blind studies. I. E. Dissipating cold fog and increasing snow pack by seeding orographic clouds. But when you step into high energy storms such as thunderstorms and the mother of all tropical storms, think about how much energy would be required to modify them. An average hurricane produces an immense amount of power, with estimates suggesting it can generate around 600 terawatts (600 trillion watts) of energy. This staggering figure illustrates the hurricane’s capacity to convert heat energy from the ocean into mechanical energy, primarily through wind and rain formation. This energy output is often compared to the global electrical generating capacity to underscore its enormity; equivalent to 200 times the worldwide electrical generating capacity or about half of the global electrical output in terms of instantaneous power. Another analogy, a 10 megaton nuclear weapon every 20 minutes. It is not feasible to generate or modify these storms.

“Thanks for the compliment.”

You’re welcome.

“I’m guessing your really not interested”

You’re wrong.

“silver iodide flares.”

Yes.

“weather modification is hard.”

I believe that.

” think about how much energy would be required to modify them”

A lot when they were at full power, I imagine.

Trouble is, all I copped to was someone spraying chemicals around; not weather modification.

Lots of reasons to spray chemicals around. And it’s been done pretty routinely throughout history (you got the agent orange joke, right?).
