I saw a podcast (but I didn’t save it) which posited that fossil fuels come from wood not dinosaur flesh and as proof they went to a lake in which a wooded hillside slid off in this lake (earthquake) and all of the trees were in the lake were turning into a charcoal like substance over time. Going into coal mines, miners would frequently encounter fossil tree patterns in the coal. Plus they did experiments to turn wood into charcoal using pressure successfully.
