To the 41 Million Christians ‘Unlikely’ to Vote This November: ‘You Need to Repent’
New American Prophet ^ | October 12, 2024 | Suzanne Bowdey

While Kamala Harris’s numbers are starting to come back to earth after a disastrous vice presidential debate, things have never looked better for the Californian’s campaign. As much as people have come to rely on the ebbs and flows of public opinion, longtime strategists know that there’s a better predictor of how Democrats will do — and that’s the evangelical vote. Or, as the 2024 numbers warn, the lack thereof.

According to some truly shocking statistics from George Barna at Arizona Christian University (ACU), as many as 41 million Christians plan to sit this election out — more than enough to hand the country’s keys to the eager and radical Left.

Assuming that Christians will all vote for GOP is dumb. Too many are heretics who welcome queers in their clergy and excuse abortion for any reason etc etc and will vote for the ho.

Evangelicals, not Christians. Yes, all Evangelicals are Christians, but not all Christians. Barna surveyed "people of Faith" including Christians of all stripes and then broke down the results among the groups.

Thus the article addresses a particular set of "41 million Christians" who may not vote. He is referring to "Evangelical Christians", though you have to dig that out. Here is a quote from the Barna Survey:

Barna pointed out that a deeper dive into the data shows more narrowly defined segments within the “people of faith” group have different expected turnout rates. Among those are people who are defined by their beliefs regarding sin and salvation as born-again Christians (41 million expected to not vote); self-identified Christians who regularly attend church services (32 million not expected to vote); and voting-age adults who regularly attend an evangelical church (14 million of whom are expected to not vote). The research also indicated 46 million adults who attend Protestant churches and 19 million who attend Catholic churches are not likely to vote.

If one identifies as an Evangelical Christian (let's say "Born Again Christian" as almost a universal identifier), they are much more likely to vote as a bloc conservatively than most of all the rest since at least the time of Reagan. In addition, part of Evangelicalism is about their influence on social issues, thus voting is a primary tool of Evangelicalism and why they have been so powerful a bloc in the past.

Is counting on the Evangelical bloc a blind spot for the 2024 GOP? Probably, Barna's survey seems to support that notion.

I’m weary of politics. Sometimes I just turn off the radio and the podcasts and think about other things. But I will not fail to vote. Anyone who tries to make a political statement by not voting is an idiot. You can be the most virtuous Christian in the world but if you don’t vote you are a virtuous idiot, imbecile and moron. All at the same time.

Voting, in many states IS an illusion.

"who knows what evil?", please accept my prayers for your situation.

I'm still not clear though on why the person who wrote the article is a "loathsome human being". If your thought is about bigger fish to fry, then I understand your emotion. Stay safe and get back on your feet. Blessings.

Yeah, I can agree with that. My protest this season has been no donations, I'm not giving one red cent. I will give my vote which is much more valuable anyway. My phone: "Patriot..." stop. "Friend..." stop. "Match..," stop. Stop, stop, stop, stop at least 3 or 4 times a day. Unsubscribe? Forget about it. But I'll vote Trump.

Your prayers are most welcome, and deeply appreciated! Thanks to the support of the CHRISTIAN community, and their generosity, we are about 80% back to our former life...NO FEMA, TEMA (the state version), NO Red Cross, NO United Way..it was ALL the ‘private sector’. As for voting...people are trapped by washed out roads, downed trees, no communication, and having to bury their dead in the back yards. Those are the ‘bigger fish to fry’.

Asking these people to ‘repent’ set me off.

Having read more of the comments, I need to clarify that I am not talking about people like yourself who may not be able to vote because of circumstances beyond their control. I’m talking about people who could very easily vote but are too apathetic to do so.

I am praying for you and for everybody who is in your situation. You are not forgotten, by God or by many of us.

If one doesn’t vote it means one is accepting whatever
result occurs, I suppose some people can do that.
I would like to assume I at least can input my desires
into the decision and if it turns out not to suit me, I can at least grouse about the out come !!!

They don’t think Harris is more Christian then Trump. They don’t think either of them live as Christians.

I first realized there was a crack in their support when one brought up Trumps statement that Fla’s 6 week abortion ban was too extreme.

A true pro life Christian believes that all abortion is murder. A true Christian also believes that marriage is between a man and a woman. Trump is okay with some abortion (even after six weeks) and with gay marriage.

I get why that’s so, political considerations and all that. I’ll still be voting for him but I don’t pretend he’s a “Christian” in any real sense beyond the votes it gains him from religious conservatives.

I don’t blame people for recognizing that about him and choosing not to vote for him because of it. You know the saying, “Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining”? Well don’t tell me you’re okay with “some” abortion/gay marriage and then tell me you’re a Christian.

I don’t even really believe these polling numbers. It will either matter or it won’t. We’ll find out a few days after the election.

I do understand that. But alternatively God uses sinful, fallible humans throughout scripture to accomplish His will. And if these fellow Christians wish to keep their freedom of worshiping as they choose, they better cinch up, swallow their self righteousness and and vote.

Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar’s.

As you rightly point out, the context is taxes.

Never are believers commanded to vote.

Nor do we have a record of this being part of the Apostle's teaching.

You make good points, but fall short in demonstrating it is a duty of believers to vote.

There are many ways for churches to oppose evil and support good.

But thank you.

There are some things that could be better.

But there are few, if any, politicians who better embody the willingness to lay down one’s life and not only for his friends but even for those who hate him.

It’s also not a specific command to obey the laws of the land, to defend the land, or to pay taxes (which was the particular context).

Romans 13:

1Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God.

2Therefore he who resists the authority withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment.

3For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the authority,

4for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a servant of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil.

5Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake.

6For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing.

7Therefore give everyone what you owe: if you owe taxes, pay taxes; if customs, then customs; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.

Never did Christians have an opportunity to vote.

We are commanded to respect civil authorities and obey them when they don’t oppose what God tells us to do. Our form of governance needs honest voters even more than it needs taxes. Why would taxes be Ceasars but not the honest input that our government requests?

Never did Christians have an opportunity to vote.

So you are putting forth an argument from silence.

Why would taxes be Ceasars but not the honest input that our government requests?

Scriptural crickets here too...

Also it is not just the churches that are to oppose evil but also the individual Christian people. How is an individual best able to fight the very evil being done in our names by our own tax dollars?

And why would any Christian refuse to do anything that they could to rescue people being trafficked and killed to feed Satan’s beasts, the corrupt religion and corrupt government?

James says that if we have the power to help somebody and don’t it is fake religion. Voting is easy. Why refuse?

There are biblical principles which apply, that I and others have mentioned, even if the word vote never appears in scripture because they didn’t have it. The word abortion isn’t in scripture either but Thou shalt not murder addresses it. That’s all I’m saying but you seem to be ignoring the principles that have been brought up. Why do you do that?
