West Virginia House introduces resolution that would not recognize a Presidential election under specific circumstances

CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – West Virginia’s special session started on Monday and resumed Sunday evening.

While child care and a reduction in personal income tax are at the top of many’s minds, a resolution that said the State Legislature would “not recognize an illegitimate presidential election” is turning heads.

(snip)

The resolution said the state wouldn’t recognize the election of a Democratic candidate if the Republican presidential or vice presidential candidate is “assassinated, seriously injured during an assassination attempt, incarcerated, defacto eliminated or barred from the ballot in any states, or is the subject of legal actions that preclude their effective campaigning.”

It also said if the West Virginia Attorney General or Secretary of State with the State Legislature “determine[d]” election fraud or interference was the reason the candidate got the majority in the Electoral College, they would not recognize the candidate’s election.

If it is determined that the “illegal or illicit elimination” of the Republican presidential or vice presidential candidate happened, or if election fraud or interference results “in the Constitutionally illegitimate selection of a President during the 2024 election cycle,” the Legislature will be called into a special session to “preserve the Freedom of our People,” according to the resolution.

Interesting. Might not be enough to get anyone's attention, but it says something that such a thing is given serious consideration.

The more I see favorable poll numbers for Trump the more I worry about his safety.

This could only be passed in a state that doesn’t have these problems.

Almost equally as worrisome would be the country's reaction should the left succeed in taking out Trump other than by the (tainted) ballot box.

The east coast is getting as bad as the west coast with elections.

.... and if them crying “Russia! Russia! Russia!” again turns out to be just as false as the last time?

Weird how Algore and Shrillery get to dispute their elections over and over again, but Trump is the one that ends up in court...

Well right on West Virginia.

Temporarily refraining from references to said State with a third initial between W and V, or to fans of the Big12 conference football team as Sofa Burners.

Not today.

Glad we don’t live in Russia, as they do all that to candidates they disapprove of.
