The 2024 box office has been inundated with sequels, prequels and remakes, with the top 10 titles of the year all coming from existing intellectual property...That trend will continue, and expand, in 2025.

Now I know why I can’t find anything at the movies.
I know longer worry (or care) about HOLLYWOOD. Their entire business model is going the way of the “buggy whip”.
Hollywood was once in the entertainment business. They are now in the social engineering business i.e. propaganda.
Movie theaters were also once in the entertainment business now they are overpriced “restaurants” selling stale popcorn, sugar, fizzie drinks, and overcooked hot dogs on stale buns, all at inflated prices.
Hollywood has suffered many wounds (most self inflicted) but the killing blow will come from something almost everyone had today, access to the internet and free (or low cost) content.
We recently “cut the cord” and have internet access only, and a new “smart tv”. With access to prime, and a couple of subscriptions we have access to more “entertainment” then we will ever be able to “consume”.
Thousands of old TV shows and movies are available. All made before Hollywood was infected with DEI.
RIP Hollywood, we will not miss you.
And with AI and CGI, who needs actors or studios or ‘on-location’ anymore. Todays game programmers can write stories and program a movie instead of a game, or make the movie a game...
That’s what happens when you don’t make movies anymore but want to make a statement or just reproduce the same lame story line over and over again (DEI comic book movies), DEI crap where men are always bad and women can dispatch one or multiple men in hand-to-hand combat, or some guy falls 3 stories bounding of metal fire escapes his way down or get the crap beat out of him and then proceeds to overpower people.
Even TV is becoming the same way...The “new” Hawaii 5-0 and Magnum P.I. for instance...
Haven’t been to the movies in 20+ years... I’ve missed nothing especially the so called experience.
I can watch any movie at home within a few months of its release but none I’d watch anyway. I’d prefer the good ole 50’s SyFy’s.
Hollywood hasn’t had any new ideas since the silent era......................
If I was an actor like Morgan Freeman, I’d be setting up a new company which would have control over my voice. I’d be in a studio recording literally everything I could possibly say. The company would be able to sell my iconic voice for commercial use in perpetuity. My future family would be set. Most other actors are pretty replaceable.
The lack of creativity is killing not only Hollywood, but just about everything else. My pet peeve is the lack of creativity in music—especially Christian music.
“Songwriters” today write dull, unimaginative lyrics and match them with worthless, repetitive melodies and think they have created a masterpiece.
No wonder people today, including young people are listening to the older stuff.

I go through bouts of Highway Patrol reruns every so often.

Agree - I am already seeing a lot of “amateur” productions on Youtube. Most are still primitive but I am sure they cost little in terms of money for the creators.
There was a writer’s strike
All the good movies have already been made.
The gay agenda makes nothing but Trash
***Thousands of old TV shows and movies are available.****
Sadly so many good add free movie channels (IFC, Sundance, AMC) now show only old TV sitcoms over and over again. I still miss my Samurai Saturdays on IFC.
TCM is the only one I watch any more and it is beginning to show too many modern movies.
In the 1950s a TV show lasted 25 minutes with 5 minutes of commercials cut into it. That is 5 minutes of show for 1 minute of advertisements.
Today it is 2 minutes of show and one minute of advertisements. And the advertisements are packed together you cannot tell what is actually being sold.
I used to go to the movies quite often. I have not been to our local 6 plex since 2010 for the remake of True Grit.
Their listings seem to be, for six screens, four si-fi superhero movies, two horror shows and a kid show. I just checked. Yep. exactly as I said.
Even the pay channels on DirecTV show the same type movies over and over. Nothing for adults.
Many great books have never been made into films - but Hollywood probably finds them too difficult to woke-ize.
