Once again, the Biden Administration made a brilliant move. By disapproving the JetBlue/Spirit Airlines merger, consumers will suffer and jobs will be lost.
Spirit met with creditors today to discuss the terms of a bankruptcy. If they go bankrupt (a virtual certainty now), the jobs at Spirit will be lost. Also, there will be less competition with one less airline out there; hence, airline ticket prices will go up.
A merger was the only way Spirit could have survived.
Thank you Biden Administration.
I had a 2 day trip to a wedding Atlanta that got extended because of the fallout from a hurricane in Florida a few years back. My experience with Spirit through the ordeal led me to pray consistently for that company’s full and complete demise. And to always be willing to pay the greater cost for a different airline.
Why did he do this? Makes no sense.
Of course those goals do not apply to WEF faithful, bureaucrats, and politicians. They use private charters.
Spirit is a for-profit socialist bureaucracy on steroids. The employees and company culture operate no differently than a TSA or FEMA drone.
I understand. I was not exactly a big fan of Spirit, but I can’t help but think a merger with a better company, JetBlue, would have upped the game there for Spirit’s employees.
I personally know one of their pilots, from over 12 years of service. He likes the company and is a former military pilot.
My wife and I prefer all other airlines, but were pleasantly surprised when we got to try their new seats, which were better than we had expected.
Still, I don’t like how they nickel and dime you and other airlines all have better feeling cushions than even the new seats we had.
I don’t want them to fail. I know others who like Spirit and are willing to put up with their hassles.
I quite like JetBlue.
That’s why the combination would have been a good thing. JetBlue would have fixed many of the problems Spirit had.
Sure it does.
Deep State hates competition.
Hard to find a worse airline than Spirit. The markets have spoken.
I’ve always been a cheapskate when it comes to air travel, but there’s no way I’m ever flying Spirit again. I’d rather drive.
lost jobs,
fewer available airline seats,
less competition,
higher ticket prices.
So true. I did not have a good impression of Spirit’s founder either.
I rode on Spirit once.....Once!
I call it Ghetto Airlines.
WTH is wrong with you?
Do you not remember the Boeing/McDonnell Douglas merger?
The government is not omnipotent and I don’t care to have MY tax dollars support a later bailout for lousy business practices.
Translated: You support the Kroger:Albertsons merger, too.
Unbelievable. NOT “Conservative” at all.
Ridiculous comment and analogy. Neither BA or MCD was in danger of bankruptcy. Neither Kroger or Albertsons was in danger of bankruptcy. Your post makes no sense at all.
Have a nice day.
