Bay Area charger company abruptly shuts down, bewildering customers

…JuiceBox purveyor Enel X Way North America announced Wednesday that it is shutting down its United States charger operations. Drivers will no longer be able to use their phones’ apps to access JuiceBox charger devices at homes or out in public.

The news means the end of app-based tools like scheduling charges, which are particularly useful for Californians seeking off-peak electricity prices, and features for checking charging statuses and histories. In other words, they’re losing their “smart” status.

JuiceBox customers took to Reddit’s r/electricvehicles forum to complain about the company and express their confusion.

“My concern is how things like charge rate will be adjusted without the app,” one poster wrote. Another said, “I’m pissed that pretty much every feature that they previously advertised is gone.”

In the message, Enel X Way North America wrote that the decision stems, in part, from Enel Group’s “strategic approach to e-mobility,” in which it aims to bundle charging station sales with electricity to customers — Enel North America, it said, has no retail electricity customer base.

The company also pointed to struggles in the United States’ electric vehicle industry; high interest rates have made investments more difficult, and EV sales haven’t met the industry’s bullish estimates.

bankruptcy of SunPower, one of the oldest and ‘esteemed’ solar panel companies
____________________

To make solar panels, you need huge amounts of energy.
So much, that the panels barely return that energy over their lifetime.
So you need a lot of cheap coal energy to make solar cells profitably.
Only China have this!

Enel X Way is committing to sell over 2,000,000 EV chargers in North America by 2030, including over 10,000 public DC fast charging stations, and is also committing to enter the North American EV public charging station market in 2023.

You don’t make money building solar panels. You make money by taking government grants to build solar panel factories. Then after pocketing all you can, you bankrupt the company.

The major car blogs are whores. They as well as car and motorcycle magazines. Pretty much always have been.

If there had been an internet (internet forums and youtube) in 1972 I would never have bought a BSA. All we had were car and bike magazines. What a pantload.

Enel is the Italian utility company. Everybody should stop buying Parmesan Cheese at once.

The most American-made car, and the best selling car in the world is the Tesla Model Y.

I am 100% against mandating what cars people must buy, but for a lot of people EV’s make sense, once you filter through the faux outrage of how dangerous it must be to own one.

0-60mph in 4.9 seconds and no oil changes ever. Yes, tires are a little more costly. It is fun to drive.

I’m not really looking to debate. I grew up in a middle class neighborhood and people were proud of their lawns. I really didn’t know how good this car was until I got rich. Just kidding. I am not rich, I got a great interest rate and it makes sense to me.

I have driven it about 5,500 miles in 2 months at between 2 and 12 cents a mile. If I charge at home 2 cents a mile. Supercharger on the road, 12 cents a mile.

I have said in the past that about the time that Cho BiDung was elected and the GND push began in earnest that the FedGov paid a visit to USA car makers and basically strong-armed them into EV development and production. I fully expect that soon after PDJT is re-elected the emphasis on EVs will evaporate. If any of that technology is around in 2-3 years it will be self-contained hybrids that do not need charging stations.

Currently Toyota has the most refined hybrids and the prices are moderating. However they still have those dangerous and expensive batteries. It could be that insurance costs, maintenance costs, low resale values, and decreasing availability will end the hybrid era also.

I’ve always assumed they (car blogs) are being paid by the fedgov to spew EV propaganda. Wouldn’t be the first time.
