Figs...it is! I will be honest. I am getting tired of the work involved to produce a few pounds of figs. If I lived a hundred miles south or so I could probably grow the better tasting varieties in ground with a lot less effort. The Plastic buckets are becoming brittle and falling apart. (I knew this would happen at some point.)

The house. At some point we need to start downsizing and I will probably need to leave garden fallow for a season.

Did you have a good apple harvest this year? Aronia berries? Applesauce or drying? What varieties?

We had a very dry year, so apple harvest is down, but that’s OK. I have plenty of applesauce and butter in the pantry from the past two seasons.

Mom is coming out today so we’ll pick the remaining apples and divvy them up between us. I need to make pie filling and she wants to make more applesauce. Just one tree produced well this season, despite the weather. It’s ‘Liberty’ and is a sprayless apple with great insect and disease resistance. I have a second younger one coming up behind, so since our Honeycrisp have amounted to SQUAT, the Liberty will fill in for those.

From Jung’s of course! ;)
