Endorsing Kamala Harris Might Have Been the Worst Career Move Taylor Swift Has Ever Made
PJ Media ^ | September 29, 2024 | Rick Moran

Taylor Swift has been at the top of the pop music charts for over 15 years. That's an eternity in show business.

It's no accident. Swift's rise to superstardom was as carefully planned as a military campaign. Her studio recordings, her songwriting, her tours, her public appearances, and her advocacy have all been carefully structured to give her maximum exposure with minimum risk.

Until she endorsed Kamala Harris for president.

Swift transcended pop music to become an American icon. Her Harris endorsement has now squandered that precious admiration and goodwill and, for the first time in her hugely successful career, she has stumbled.

It's not a big stumble, to be sure. But the Harris endorsement has opened the door to criticism and in show business, where everyone is waiting to pounce on any error you make and tear you down, it was a strategic mistake.

"Who's afraid of little old me? Republicans," Jeff Horwitt of Hart Research Associates, the Democratic pollster who conducted this survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies, said of Swift. "Her personal ratings have dropped from +2 to -35 among Republicans."

"A good lesson that it's better to be a tortured poet than a tortured figure in the political arena," Horwitt continued.

Her fans are not deep thinkers

Most of them are too busy doing their nails to be bothered to go vote, also.

“Now it will take one minute to sell out every seat at a concert venue instead of thirty seconds”

Pretty sad reflection of American society.

If you are an entertainer of any sort, shut up about politics.

If you want to throw you hat into the arena fine but otherwise keep your own council.

People do not look to you for wisdom or advice. They look for you to, for some brief moment in time, make their lives feel a little less bleak. Some guy who is listening to Swift with his very ill daughter because she enjoys it is not going to change his vote because of your endorsement. But once she has died he is also not going to be able to hear your song and take comfort in a happy memory. All he can hear is you ranting about something you know nothing about and that has nothing to do with your art.

So stop it.

Entertainers are a necessary part of the world. They provide something we need on a very primal level. And they should stick to that job.

Swift is looking more pissed every concert and is accessed of being a terrible singer. She’s going for the Britney Spears thing, but has no natural class or raw sex appeal. She’s a doe in the headlights.

Innocence lost.

Young girls asking grown ups, Mommy why does Dad not like Taylor anymore? Congrats once again to the ugly left.

#45: "but has no natural class or raw sex appeal. She's a doe in the headlights."

BINGO!

She's a nothing. She is plain and ordinary. She doesn't have a figure. She doesn't have a personality.

She's a manufactured product like twinkies or mountain dew.

Back during the Golden Era of Hollywood, when the big studios kept a stable of actors under contract, the actors and actresses were not allowed to make any public statements on any subject without prior approval of the studio PR people. And definitely no political endorsements.

Boss moguls like Sam Goldwyn knew that the American people would automatically be turned off by half if an actor endorsed a candidate. And that half would not show up at the theater to see the actor’s movies.........

She’ll stay rich famous and hugely successful, but it is like a stock that drops a few points, it didn’t help, and it isn’t a complete draw.

Yep.

And that is the way it should be.

I am a fan of documentaries. They are my secret vice for when my world is going really wrong. But there are documentaries I can not enjoy because in real life the narrator has called me names because of who I vote for. So I avoid those.

Did it change even one vote? Probably not.

Did it cost the production company a sale?

Yep.

And eventually those lost sales do add up.

I don't keep up with these things but my 13 year-old niece says she is a singer.

I think this is the same girl that previously used the stage name Havana Montana.

Don’t buy her material. Don’t separate politics and culture. Look at the results of doing the opposite. It may be a sacrifice for some of you but no one is required yet to give their lifves.

Until recent years, Swift hinted a few times that she voted Republican, without actually saying it out loud.

Swift has family on both sides who are or were successful business people.

To suddenly declare on social media, eight weeks before a presidential election, that she supports a candidate who is a radical Socialist, a radical Environmentalist, a radical Immigrationist, and a radical anti-white Racist, is not something that most Conservatives and MAGAs can forgive.

I wasn’t a fan before she opened her yap about politics. I’ve never been intrigued by these carefully packaged, contrived performers.
