It seems too much of a conincidence that a Scandanavian guy found it on his farm. Now if a Native American found it, I would suspect it might be real. I have no idea, one way or the other.
I'm unfamiliar with the Oklahaoma find, and what the scholars have to say. I'll check it out.
Contemporary scholars work overtime trying to erase any vestiage of White people existing in pre-Columbian America. It sticks in their craw that a European might have been here before Columbus.

Don’t know if they were killed off, or simply run out of the area, or a combination of both. Weaker historic tribes that were defeated or run out of their territory often merged into larger groups further away from their enemies.

My big question comes from all we’ve heard about 16th century Europeans bringing smallpox and measles, and wiping out native populations through disease, why didn’t it happen with the Norse interactions? Were the Thule tribes too spread out and isolated for plagues to easily spread? Cold weather and that the Norse didn't defecate in the drinking water.

It has been talked about before, it seems that this meeting between those two peoples did not leave any aftereffect.

Yep, Leif Erickson (son of Erik the red) was here first and thought this was widely known.

There are many people who believe the Kensington Runestone is not a fake. It was thoroughly surrounded by tree roots, meaning that the tree grew over it many years before it was found. It also contained runes that were not in use at the time, so it’s unlikely that the finder would have known them.

In 986 Bjarni Herjolfsson was trying to get to Greenland but missed it...he saw the coasts of what is now eastern Canada but never went ashore. He finally made it to Greenland and was made fun of for not having gone ashore. Leif Eriksson knew of his voyage and retraced his route about the year 1000 and did go ashore. He called one area Vinland (probably Newfoundland).
The local natives were too hostile so an attempt to colonize Vinland was abandoned.

Thanks for info on Bjarni. If I had heard of him before it has slipped out of the memory.

I was shocked by an Electric Ray once at the beach. Caught it in my cast net and mistook it for a harmless guitar fish.
Picked it up to put it back in the water and it knocked me on my ass..........

Since this walrus hunting by Vikings probably occurred about 1000 years after Christ, I doubt the academics were even thinking about before Christ, much less having feelings about something they had no interest in doing.

If you like shocking new evidence, check out the book 1421, written about the probable discovery and exploration of both east and west cost Americas by Chinese fleets, as well as a number of other parts of the not yet discovered world (by Europeans at least). This book points out the likelihood that Columbus, the Portuguese, and Magellan all had access to map information developed by the Chinese on those voyages.

Maybe because the Norse were fastidiously clean people?

Thank you for your scientific integrity listing various sources about 1421 even though you disagree with the book. Cheers
