Is this storm going to bring the climate change crowds wet dreams to life?

Looks like St. George’s Island will get hit hard. I pray all the permanent residents evacuated. It may take out that 4 mile bridge to it. Praying for all in harms way.

The area it’s going to hit in Florida is not a favorite of the Yankees moving here, they mostly head south, the people living in the impacted areas are long time Floridians, they know what to do, they barely get worked up unless it’s a Cat 3 or above.

States as far inland as Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana could see rainfall.

Have these states never seen rainfall before?

I am in the south Tampa Bay area and we are having minimal winds and rain.

The NHC in their 4am wind advisory reduced the wind speed before landing from 120 mph to 115 mph.

I know the media wants to make Helene the storm that changed the 2024 election, but it just seems to me that it will not be as powerful as the media likes to predict.

Extreme weather events are normal, but because they don't occur every day the media loves to pretend they do, you know, climate change.

Yeah, we’ve seen rain before in Indiana but we sure could use some right now.

It rarely is. But c'mon, man! They have had the explosive headlines burning holes in their laptop screens since early summer. Might as well use them now.

“unsurvivable” storm surge

So it'll go all the way up the coast and put DC under 10' of water?

Neat!

I think in the context of the article, it means they will see rainfall from this particular storm.

Its at 105mph sustained now and will be over 110mph when it hits Florida. Right now it seems pointed toward landfall maybe around Alligator Point? Hard to say.

Hopefully people in the direct path along the coast of FL are evacuating. I’ve been through a few hurricanes and anything over 110 sustained with higher gusts is intense. Plus storm surge.

They’re all gonna die! I read that this year has been a dud for hurricanes so far and the season is winding down.

I know the media wants to make Helene the storm that changed the 2024 election...

Not only the media. There are two other Helene threads here on FR which have attracted what appear to be the "sky-is-falling" contingent on FR. They are absolutely intolerant of any criticism of the media's reporting of the storm.

I've been here since 2006 and I am aghast at the in-fighting, personal hatred, and vitriol people now feel completely free and entitled to engage in and direct toward anyone with a reasoned and alternate viewpoint. These are typical Democrat left-wing tactics so why are they showing up on FR?

Are these the same people who predicted that, after Katrina, MASSIVE hurricanes would be become the yearly norm?

Rush used to comment on the way they shaped the ‘cone’ map of where hurricane ‘might’ travel.

It would be better if they employed the Cone of Silence.

https://zoom.earth/maps/radar/

Scroll back in time and look at the huge area that has been getting near continuous rainfall for the last 12+ hours the storm is not even on land yet. All that area soil is fully saturated there will be wide spread flash flooding.
