Chuckled out loud!
That's actually a solid choice. Like Sting dueting with this unknown songbird, a story like an updated "Don't You Want Me", a clever song structure (much like DYWM), and then Gotye vanished, unlike Human League, which have 45 minutes of recognizable 80s hits and still tour yearly in the UK and Continent.
The trick is that some of the best “one-hit wonders” have second songs that charted based on the strength of the first. Like Rick Astley, A-ha, etc. Others are NOT considered one-hit wonders because they’ve had tremendous album success. Technically, Pink Floyd is LARGELY a one-hit wonder in the US.
Another vote for “Classical Gas”
Oh, yeah... quintessential one hit wonder..garage band...tune sticks the mind forever...
Nope. "Good Girls Don't" went to No. 11 while "My Shirona" sat in the No. 1 throne. RIP Doug Fieger.
