A Houston bankruptcy judge ruled on Tuesday that assets from the conspiracy theorist Alex Jones’s Infowars empire can be auctioned off to help pay families of the Sandy Hook mass shooting victims the defamation awards he owes them.
The auction, set for mid-November, will include Infowars’ website, social media accounts, broadcasting equipment, product trademarks and inventory owned by Free Speech Systems, Infowars’ parent company.
Mr. Jones’s fate as a broadcaster most likely depends on who buys his business. Though the Infowars name and assets are potentially of interest to a range of entities on the far right, under the terms of the sale anyone can bid.

The term “public figure” goes way beyond politicians. Of course Alex is a public figure, because he broadcasts to hundreds of thousands. He intentionally “puts himself out there” with performances and opinion pieces.
You and I would not be considered public figures in this context because (I am assuming) we are not intentionally putting our face, voice, and likeness out there for public consumption.
I am sure there are legal terms for all of this. But I believe that is the gist of it.
“As i said I don’t do videos. BTW, the article I posted includes statements by Jones about his statements. Multiple articles where Jones admits he called Sandy Hook a hoax.”
Question. Many people on the right, myself included, have called the Democrats’ accusation of an “insurrection” against Trump supporters on Jan. 6 a hoax. For the record, it was a contrived, set up event meant to stop the proceedings at the Capitol BY the Democrats and their minions embedded within the crowd. Turns out... they didn’t even need the fake pipe bomb scheme. And then there was the bogus commission intended to “”legitify”” their BS and hoax.
I’m calling what the Democrats did a hoax. So if I, a private citizen, were to go on radio and state this opinion of mine... under your apparent stance on this... I could be or “should be” sued into poverty for “”defamation”” by these leftists... just because they don’t like, agree with or approve of what I have said.... and because what I have said makes them look like the lying, vile POSs that they truly are.
And ... my interpretation of your stance on free speech ...is that the left is perfectly justified in targeting me, a private citizen, for daring to voice my opinion against them. Right?
“You and I would not be considered public figures in this context because (I am assuming) we are not intentionally putting our face, voice, and likeness out there for public consumption.”
See my comment below re: if I went on radio and made a similar comment against the left. Does being ON the radio then make you a public figure? If you are on the radio consistently, are your 2nd Amendment rights automatically suspended? So many questions...
Not sure where your second amendment stuff comes into play, so I won’t entertain that.
I imagine calling in to a show would not put you at risk.
At one time in my life I was a local business manager and every year or so I would make the rounds on the local (very local) TV shows and radio shows. For that brief time I guess I would have been considered a public figure. I was certainly open to criticism and comment. So if someone said, “Vt Lt is a fat bastard who lies ab out his company” I would not be able to sue them.
30 years later my “celebrity” is gone. So if someone on a radio show started saying out of the blue that I was a fat bastard liar I would have a case.
God bless him. He has shed a ton of light on hidden activities.
Musk, Carlson, Ryan, etc. are probably next.
“As i said I don’t do videos.”
Very convenient. You “don’t do” the one thing that should be easily found and would be obviously posted EVERYWHERE, if it were true.
The article says he said it? The article and included videoclip are an attorney, reading what the writer of a Rolling Stone article said he said.
The lawyer is trying to get him to agree that he said it.
He sits there clearly saying that the judge has told him that if he says he is innocent of the charge, he will be imprisoned for contempt. THAT is on the record.
Now go take your covid booster moron.

Ooops. Sorry, I meant the 1st Amendment... but these days I seem to have the 2nd on my brain a lot...lol.
The gist is...I am against everything the left had done and is doing, and make no mistake.... these people suing Jones are leftists. They are by no means justified in their cashing in on anything he said about them, IMHO. But we’re in a different era now... and the woke cancel culture has taken full control of the assylum. Anyone that is not on the Marxist left side of the aisle is now fair game to be marginalized, persecuted and eliminated as any threat to their agenda.
Here’s the video of Alex Jones complete testimony. I have no intention of wasting 2 hours of my time watching that despicable bum.

We can agree to disagree. That’s what makes the world go round.
“We can agree to disagree. That’s what makes the world go round.”
Absolutely.
“This is not a standard that has ever been applied to liberals stirring up “Black Lives Matter” or ANTIFA riots.
And the idea that “no amount of money” is adequate is just nonsense. There are no *REAL* damages to these people.”
Naming these families as deep state crisis actors was recorded and broadcast world wide to a known audience of millions. Despite the suffering families being doxed, threatened and shot at, Jones refused to walk back any of these ridiculous statements until taken to court so he could retain followers for more money at their expense.
The same should be applied to liberals and having your entire life made unliveable because of constant threats is very real damage. Nomatter how much money and protection you have, you never will feel free to do anything as you did before the damage.
When you are watched and threatened every day by unstable people like I have been, you will understand very quickly
Alex Jones did nothing like that. Let's stay with reality here, shall we?
What he is alleged to have done was to allow people to claim the Sandy Hook shooting was staged.
Even if that is true, it does not rise to a level of a billion dollars worth of punishment.
No harm has come to any of these people from Alex Jones. All he may have done was hurt their feelings.
A court system that presides over such a corrupt outcome is a corrupt system.
And, it appears the court went the extra mile to make sure he wouldn't defame any private citizens again.
You keep accepting the allegations as true and proven. *I* don't. You also keep ignoring the point that even if they are correct and proven, the "injury" does not rise to the level of a billion dollars worth of punishment.
I am far more concerned over a corrupted process doing far more harm than a lone nut with a microphone.
The court has used an excuse of a pretend harm to enact an unprecedented punishment on someone, and it threatens the liberty of all of us.
This case is War by means of lawfare. It is not in the best interests of the nation to tolerate such an usurpation of power.
Does this mean we get to go after the news-liars on ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, NPR and FOX News for spreading lies that caused normal Americans to vote for the evil Democrats and all the disaster that caused?
George Stephanopolous owes us many billions for helping to get that scumbag Barack Obama elected when he corrected him from saying "My Muslim Faith."
If this is the standard we are going to use to deal with people that have cameras and microphones, I'm all for using that weapon to decapitate the entire army of media-liars feeding the nation bullsh*t like the RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA! Hoax.
When they start dropping billion dollar verdicts on Rachel Maddow, David Muir and all the other news liars, then we might regard it as legitimate to apply this standard to Alex Jones.
Are you calling him a "despicable bum" because of this bullsh*t trial, or is it because of some other thing you know he did?
If you are judging him by what his enemies claim, you are making a mistake in judgement.
Oh, the horror! God forbid that someone should ever accuse me and my family of being "crisis actors!"
Get serious. In real terms, that amounts to nothing. Just some loud mouth running his mouth.
Despite the suffering families being doxed, threatened and shot at,
Jones did not dox them, threaten them, or shoot at them, and I shouldn't be surprised if all these claimed events are hoaxes themselves, because they seem very much like all these claimed "racist" incidents that turn out to have been perpetrated by the so called "victim."
Should the media liars be held responsible for the two men who tried to shoot Trump based on the constant stream of *LIES* coming out of their broadcasting systems?
Jones refused to walk back any of these ridiculous statements until taken to court so he could retain followers for more money at their expense.
How do you know what his reasons were for not walking back any of these "ridiculous statements?" I don't even know that he *MADE* ridiculous statements, because I don't listen to him. I think he is a nut, and I think most people agree that he is a nut, and *SANE* people do not take what a nut says seriously.
The same should be applied to liberals and having your entire life made unliveable because of constant threats is very real damage.
Unlivable? What Jones may or may not have said has nothing to do with the fact that some nutjob killed your family members. The tragedy is the death of people you care about, and what some nut on the radio says will not make anyone's life "unliveable" more so than the murder of people you cared about.
Nobody is chasing them. Nobody gives a crap about them. I very greatly doubt any of their claims of harassment or threats is true. This smells like Jussie Smollet bullsh*t to me.
Stop buying every line of crap that people with a vested interest try to sell you. Be a little bit more wary of what people tell you. Someone is always trying to sell a con, especially if there are big bucks on the line.
When you are watched and threatened every day by unstable people like I have been, you will understand very quickly
I have been watched and threatened by crazies in the past. They have attacked my property and set my field on fire in an effort to punish me for my public speech. I've had phone threats and so forth. I've had legal threats.
If you are going through this every day, I would get out of that situation if I were you, but none of this is happening to those gold diggers. Nobody remembers who they are or were, and I very greatly doubt anyone ever actually bothered them.
And even if they did, it wasn't Alex Jones who is responsible for what nuts listening to his broadcasts do, the nuts themselves are responsible for their own actions.
DiogenesLamp wrote: “Are you calling him a “despicable bum” because of this bullsh*t trial, or is it because of some other thing you know he did?”
He fits my definition of a despicable bum.
Despicable-adjective. deserving to be despised, or regarded with distaste, disgust, or disdain; contemptible:
Bum-of poor quality; bad or wrong.
Alex Jones makes his fortune selling snake oil remedies from his infowars store. His comments about Sandy Hook were nothing more than click bait to attract gullible to his store. IOW, IMHO, Alex Jones said things he knew were false to drum up business for his snake oil products.
I consider that despicable and I consider him to be a bum for inflicting emotional distress just to make a profit. YMMV.
It's been my experience that a *LOT* of conservative talk show hosts sold a bunch of crap that most people don't need and didn't need.
I remember Rush Limbaugh pushing Snapple, and services to lock your identity, and a whole host of stuff I considered garbage.
Are all these talk show hosts "despicable" because they push garbage?
And what makes you think Alex Jones knew they were false? I don't watch him, but over the years i've seen a lot of commentary about other stuff he's said, and the consensus is he gets it right most of the time.
That stuff about "turning the frogs gay"? That stuff is true. Stuff we are leaching into the water is indeed turning frogs "gay" and also causing mutations.
From what i've read, he's correct more often than he is wrong.
You guys really dont understand how any of this works, do you?
If David Muir (or any of those others) went on TV and told lies and defamed you, personally, with malice… go ahead and sue them.
They dont do that.
Do you think Pfizer ought to have a judgement against them for 1000 billion dollars for claiming you wouldn't get covid, nor could you transmit it to others if you got the shot?
Just wondering about why you think Jones, who said a wrong thing, but did not have anything to do with the shooting deserves this kind of treatment? Yet Pfizer who absolutely lied, knew they lied, and actually hurt a lot of people with their vaccine shouldn't pay thousands of times more?
Awaiting your answer.
