No, it's not an "over reaction" if someone strikes me or my wife. This is why offensive criminals are getting bolder. They know that people with your passive attitude will do very little or nothing if they are slapped.

Alex Jones did nothing like that. Let's stay with reality here, shall we?

What he is alleged to have done was to allow people to claim the Sandy Hook shooting was staged.

Even if that is true, it does not rise to a level of a billion dollars worth of punishment.

No harm has come to any of these people from Alex Jones. All he may have done was hurt their feelings.

A court system that presides over such a corrupt outcome is a corrupt system.

And, it appears the court went the extra mile to make sure he wouldn't defame any private citizens again.

You keep accepting the allegations as true and proven. *I* don't. You also keep ignoring the point that even if they are correct and proven, the "injury" does not rise to the level of a billion dollars worth of punishment.

I am far more concerned over a corrupted process doing far more harm than a lone nut with a microphone.

The court has used an excuse of a pretend harm to enact an unprecedented punishment on someone, and it threatens the liberty of all of us.

This case is War by means of lawfare. It is not in the best interests of the nation to tolerate such an usurpation of power.

You're the one who drifted from reality when you said: "This is like punishing someone for slapping you by shooting them in the stomach."

I simply responded that depending upon the circumstances, if you slapped my wife or me, I just might kill you.

What he is alleged to have done was to allow people to claim the Sandy Hook shooting was staged.

He did more than just "allow" people to defame those families, he did it himself. I don't know about you, but my reputation is worth quite a bit to me. I would imagine those families felt the same, and were able to show those damages in court. It's called "self respect." And, if you aren't up to the task of fighting for your own reputation, then you have none.

No harm has come to any of these people from Alex Jones. All he may have done was hurt their feelings.

And, how would you know this? Were you sitting in the courtroom listening to testimony and examining evidence? Fraud can be a serious accusation, and can cost people their reputation in the job market and business community, not to mention their social lives. Jones decided to attack the reputations of private citizens from his bully pulpit just to make a few bucks, and he got what was coming to him.
