Will update when the storm is upgraded to Hurricane.
Laz, darling. You are in my prayers as the storm passes through. Even the Atlanta area will be hard hit.
Perhaps you didn’t know, NautiNurse has been on top of this. Here’s the link:

An “explosive” hurricane....I mean really....there is no such thing as a “nice” hurricane....but these dramatic adjectives define nothing.
West coast of FL here. Jim Cantore is just south of us. You know what that means...
This could be hugh.
Tropical Storm Helene could wreak havoc on rest of critical Mets-Braves series

Laz- your Xfinity will go out before your power does.
As soon as the first raindrop falls and the wind gets to five knots steady, it’ll go out. 😉
We’re ready up here in N GA. Hang in there.
more rain is the last thing we need in suwannee county florida... we still have roads under water from hurricane debbie...
Far inland and you may still be in harm’s way. Could be a lot of flooding depending on how fast the storm moves through, and it’s direction. Unlike most big storms, this one is supposed to hook to the northwest, most hook to the northeast, so maybe not so bad for Georgia. Stay high and dry if you can, hope you stay safe.
Yep. Northwestern burbs of Atlanta. If this explodes and ticks a little west of the current track, lots of downed trees and power outages for the atlanta area. Still going to be a huge rain maker.
I’m in Florida about 30 miles from Cedar Key. The storm has apparently moved somewhat northwest from initial models.
That said, I’m sure we’re going to get 70+ winds. I’m going to get out of dodge tomorrow morning (I’m in a 17k lb. 5th wheel) which I will button up and leave and head to Gainesville or surrounding area.
Thanks Laz!
I have family in Orlando
You may want to put this on the sidebar..
I’m right there with ya Laz, only I’m not physically there myself at the moment, away for work. This means the hubs and adult daughter will be managing the storm withouth me, ugh. They’ve already battened down the hatches and prepped. The only thing I can do is monitor via the security cams until the power goes out there. ugh. Stay safe!
My husband and I are in Captiva on vacation—we were supposed to leave on Friday but we changed our plans and are getting out today but have to drive up to Orlando to get seats on Delta, all the seats out of Fort Myers are sold out.
I just went to Google Maps for directions from Knoxville to Orlando and get this: “Route closed. No other routes available. Check conditions before you go.” That would be I-75. I wonder if that has to do with the hurricane ...?
Hernando County checking in.
Unsure how to add this thread to Front Page News. Tried several options. Can you?
North Georgia myself..I expect a lot of rain but wind wise I’m guessing I’ll hear it over mountain above me but we’re pretty sheltered on the NW side. I expect power outages simply because we get those on a good day and fairly common.
Got plenty of food, water and beer and a whole home generator, chainsaw, fuel, comealongs side by side and winches.
I guess the drought is over for us
This beast might just be bowling a perfect 300 on us. I move left, it moves left. I move right, it moves right.
