Vanity: Patriot Grassroots
9/24/2024 | Me

Posted on 09/24/2024 9:04:21 AM PDT by waterhill

I have the opportunity to work for Patriot Grassroots as a field organizer (canvassing) up North. It will be either New Hampshire or Maine.

I have experience working on a local county judge's campaign, but this is bigger.

I have been praying on it.

I will have to take a leave of absence from regular job. Employer is liberal and may not grant me a leave out of spite.

Does anyone have experience with this organization?

I am weighing the risks against benefits.

I will have to fly up there and rent a car.

This is a paid position.

I would like to hear yall's thoughts on this.

Thanks.

It has to be your decision, because there is a lot at stake, for both you and the world. If you need anyone's advice, I suggest you ask the Lord for guidance. Not us.

I admire that you are considering this. May the Lord be with you & provide God speed to you. 🙂👍

Oh, I’m praying!

I’ve never done national campaigns, just local.

Hoping someone with experience can shed some light.

Thanks!

It’s an opportunity, embrace it, but don’t get swept up in it, because politics tends to corrupt.🙂👍

with the right attitude (ex jock here), it’s a great feeling to canvass. even better to be an organizer because the organizer is vital to getting/leading people out to canvass. we had an voter roll app with breakdown by precint/neigborhood. as the organizer providing print outs are good because you can see and check off your houses. i didn’t carry a smart phone with me. just my dumb phone. but the app worked on smart phone.

in my experience it’s best to meet at parks, provide some goodies and drinks, and then divide up based on who’s there and hit the neighborhoods in pairs. man with woman is best for protection. the hardest places are big apartment blocks. had to put on my game face to go knock there. put on the armor of God and nothing bad can touch you.

i was fortunate to have my own time being self-employed. learn, tweak and improve as you go. pretty soon you have different speeches for each type voter. every person is different, but i liked to witness too when i felt the person was in the Spirit. some are lonely or friendly types and are glad to just chat for while. you can be a friendly face for some—especially the elderly. finally, you can’t take anything personal. i found it was just best be yourself and sincere. hope that helps.

sure, you’re welcome. if you got any more questions, i’ll try to answer if i can.

fyi, since you also plan to be a leader, there was some campaign strategy and decisions that came into play there too. for example, as we got closer to the election we decided to cover more ground by just leaving literature at some houses and talking only to those who were out in their yards. so you’re also gathering info as you go along that might become actionable later. God’s speed to you on whatever you decide.

I knock doors for them. They will give you and area ( walk book ) and you have to try to hit every house. This is easy in an urban area, a pain in the ass in rural areas. Erie County PA.

They know who the strong voters are on both sides so you might knock on one door on one block, take a quick survey then move on. If nobody answers, you put a thing on the door and move on.

Your roll is to “hire” local folks like me to do the knocking, get us the info, get us set up, then turn us loose. I know some folks were super happy to make $20/hour.

The role really isn’t to convince folks to vote a certain way.....but the opportunity can be there.

You need to know what candidate you will be working for......that would be the first thing I would find out about.

I would also ask how long the gig is? If you have steady work at home, why give that up for some local election in the northeast? The weather here will start to get cold as fall comes roaring in.

I hear we are just about done in Erie County and they want folks to go to other counties.....probably not happening.

I also work with Early Vote Action sending out post cards to on the fence Republicans. Much more satisfying from my perspective and I don’t mind the postage expense ( I’ll get 1200 letters out this month. )

Good Luck........I’ve ( 62 ) been inspired by the energy and dedication of the young people who are working their asses off for Trump
