Does anyone here but me know what Zofran is?

Anti nausea

No intoxicating effect

I’ve taken it as has my whole family

As for weed and downward spirals and ruined lives

Are freepers so insulated not to realize 90% of old enough America has at some point smoked or do smoke it at least some

Now that aside

I never screw up at self checkout which I loathe btw

So if I’m being neggie as we do here lol

My hunch she was nicking from Wally

Wally usually doesn’t check hard like Costco does

I’m with you - I prefer self-check out whenever possible.

I can also pack my groceries a lot better and how I prefer.

Because of labor costs in California, there are never enough check stands open, usually there are long lines to check out, sometimes it can take up to 20 minutes or more. When I go in the morning to my local grocery chain store, the ONLY check stands open are the ones for self-check out. My local Home Depot is all self-check out now and Lowe’s usually has only one check-stand open, if at all.

Many chains have closed their self check out lanes. Sam’s on the other hand has erected an automated exit checker. Not sure how it works.

I can believe that she forget to scan an item worth $6.70, but not $67.00 worth of stuff.

How can a person “forget” to scan something at these stupid self checkouts? It’s simple, it’s in the cart, you pick it up and run it across the scanner, if it beeps and shows up on the screen it’s done and goes into a bag. A monkey could do this.

No, this lady forgot nothing.

These self checkouts are costing retailers big bucks.

Exactly.

Not only are there only 3 steps…each step has a confirmation. LOL

This woman was probably stealing for years.

“I can understand a little about the asparagus, but the ham raises doubts.”

Lol! I needed that laugh today. Thanks.

Walmart has cameras that detect when it seems that an item has been moved from the cart to the bag without being added to the bill. It is the job of the monitor then to see whether that item did make it onto the bill. If not, then they make sure it gets added.

In your particular situation, if it had been at Walmart, you could/would not have been charged with anything even if you had not caught the mis-scan because the surveillance video would show that you scanned the item. It was obviously a machine error, and the video would show that.

There is a lot of theft at places like Walmart, as well as honest mistakes. That’s why there are safeguards built in. The surveillance video, for instance, will show the behavior of a person as they are “forgetting to scan” items. For a person to be caught at Walmart without the alert of a potential mis-scan or the door alert going off, there would just about have had to be suspicious behavior observed. My guess is that if this gal was high that may have caused both the “forgetting to scan” AND the suspicious behavior that caused her to be scrutinized further.

IOW, as somebody already posted, her real problem was the drugs. The stuff with Walmart was simply an effect of the drugs.

Those who don’t trust the self-checkouts should certainly refrain from using them.

Yes it does happen. Why do customers have to do the work (scanning) anyway? The customers haven’t been trained as an employee would. How are they to blame. You know they record every transaction. I had the “security” gal come running over to me saying ‘wait, wait wait!” Then she said something unintelligible and I said what happened? She ran the video back right in front of me on the register to make sure I scanned everything properly, which I had.

I actually know people who, when the laser reader doesn’t take the scan they put it in the bag anyway.

Same here.

I was at a Safeway and they had some ignorant discount scheme where you had to scan token code to get the discount.

Due to a glitch, the scanned code discounted the price to zero.

I don’t go there anymore

I absolutely believe this could happen. I once accidentally walked out of the store still holding a book in my hand that I was looking at when my ride drove up.

HELP!….Speaking of food I need help… My refrigerator just gave out and the service man said we need a compressor expensive to replace.…does anyone here have any expertise in recommending a refrigerator that won’t give out in three years? He said today’s refrigerators are not made like the past refrig and he’s overworked fixing new refrigerators. He suggest some refrigerators but I would like to hear from some of you. What is the best refrigerator to buy that will last me longer than three years? Any suggestions?

Never use the self-checkout.

Self-checkouts will be gone within a couple of years - too much theft.

Or they will simply automatically scan all the items in the cart.

I don’t use the self checkout if there are more than 5-6 items. Then I count to make sure - mistakes could cost you so much. I have read that people have been arrested over a forgotten case of water on the bottom of the cart.

I always use the self checkout. I watch the screen to see if it picked up what I scanned, and if it had the correct price. (I was a cashier at a previous job for 5 years. I think I’ve got this.)

I never used marijuana because I learned at a young age that drugs are harmful. I had responsible parents, and I choose not to associate with people who use drugs, including those who smoke marijuana. Happy to be part of that 10%.

Nope. Not theft. People have to be trained. I’ve scanned at places where the audible sound when you scanned is so low you can barely hear it. Not trained? Store’s fault.

The same thing happened to me at Sam’s but I didn’t catch it. When I got to the door where they check your receipt he reached for the oranges and I said the code is on the bottom I know I had to pick it up to scan it well somehow it didn’t scan.

I just handed in the oranges and said I don’t know what happened here and walked out the door.

A week later I was back in there and I bought the same brand of oranges and when I was scanning them it kept saying this item will not scan so at least I caught it that time and the employee had to do a runaround to get it to read it. So it wasn’t my incompetence it was their incompetence.
