It’s a “funner” movie than most. 😉
Can you imagine marrying and having to support one of these over-the-top, high-maintenance girls for the rest of your married life?
You only need a few huge Powerball winnings to get through it. Even then, it would likely be like owning an Air BNB, with frequent strays and trying to keep her on the reservation.
There's much to be said for taking care of yourself, but this is way over the top and not "the marrying type."
And a guilty-pleasure musical.
Nope. She’s quoting $30k a year in fees and $20k a year in room and board. Over four years, that adds up to $200k.
Or my late dad-in-law.
Another engineer.
Carnegie Tech (sic).
But hubby’s dad wasn’t a frat boy. :-)
It was when my mom was in during the 50s.
nice. The brunette in the middle up front is the prettiest.
Going for the MRS degree. Some poor bastard will marry her. And divorce her.
I never stated my fraternal association on any curriculum vitae.
Rather, as a frat-brother, you'll get insider info from other frat-brothers and will be guided by them in the right direction to land a lucrative job. "Philistines" (non-fraternity members) won't even know that you're "connected" - or, at least, they won't know the basis of the connection.
In uncontrolled situations (conferences, job interviews into which you are going "blind," etc.), you'll wear a tiny fraternity pin in your label, and no "outsiders" will be any the wiser. There are also various words one can use that seem quite unimportant, but which will identify you as an "insider" to fellow "insiders." Better than secret handshakes.
Regards,
At FSU Zetas were the snobs.
Perhaps you wear your label on your lapel?
There’s an acronym “MGTOW” , a movement started by these types of women, larcenous alimony payments and unfair child custody settlements. It’s almost as if Satan wanted to bust up the nuclear family unit and the politicians are onboard.
Civilians in my days were called Gamma Delta Iotas…Gosh Darned Independents (the actual words are mortally sinful - I’ll keep ya out of hell). And, to let you know “they” were in on it, they wore GDI letters on sweatshirts.
In addition, fraternities on campus had their own personalities. Sometimes those personalities weren’t universal - you could be the Animal House at your college, then road trip to a different chapter and they’d be bookworms. Thus, putting your fraternity on your CV was , for most people, a Bad Idea (unless you were in a “buy-a-frat” situation, eg AGR was the “fraternity” for the Agriculture majors-no hazing or pledging).
Th other element at play here is the personality of a chapter can morph over time. My chapter is nothing like what we were in the 80s. That’s probably a good thing - fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, son. But if this girl thinks other Zetas will automatically hire her, she’s likely being sold a bill of goods by the actives AND alumni.
“Chi O...Chi O....it’s off to bed we go....”
My stepdaughter was in an exclusive sorority at Alabama and was a great looking girl. She ended out with several degrees, no husband, and a quarter of a million in school debt. At age 42 she is finally debt free, but still no husband. Sad
Men don’t care about a woman’s career. They’d rather date their secretary.
I didn’t know they made it into a musical. Thanks! :)
My fraternity association is not something I advertise. It did help me one time for sure. I was at homecoming visiting my fraternity, ironically enough. Sunday morning I was speeding to beat the check out time for my hotel room, which was about 25 miles away from campus. Police officer inquired why I was in such a rush. I told him truthfully. He asked some specifics, which school? which fraternity? After I told him I was a Sigma Pi alum, he told me to have a nice day and gave me the hand shake.
Exactly.
That's an interesting story!
My granddaughter recently graduated from Alabama and was also in a top sorority. She's a beautiful, smart girl with a fantastic job. Her head is on straight, and she's a good catch for any young guy. While she's not married yet (too early), I'm sure she'll do well.
I'm not so confident about the girls like the ones in that story, though. But, then again, I could be wrong :-).
