Scientists have captured Earth’s climate over the last 485 million years. Here’s the surprising place we stand now.

An ambitious effort to understand the Earth’s climate over the past 485 million years has revealed a history of wild shifts and far hotter temperatures than scientists previously realized — offering a reminder of how much change the planet has already endured and a warning about the unprecedented rate of warming caused by humans.

The timeline, published Thursday in the journal Science, is the most rigorous reconstruction of Earth’s past temperatures ever produced, the authors say. Created by combining more than 150,000 pieces of fossil evidence with state-of-the-art climate models, it shows the intimate link between carbon dioxide and global temperatures and reveals that the world was in a much warmer state for most of the history of complex animal life.

Where are the ice ages in the chart?

The ice-ages began about 1.2 million years ago (late Pleistocene Epoch) with a mysterious shift in the climate to long cold periods where sea-levels dropped and short duration warm interglacials where sea-levels rose again. The cold oceans absorbed CO2 but during warm interglacials, CO2 was released back into the atmosphere. The temperature rise during interglacials always preceded the rise in CO2 by ~800 years.

There have been several ice-ages over the last one million years, each lasting over ~100,000 years. In between were short period interglacials, each lasting about 10,000 years; all caused via natural processes.

The last interglacial period (Eemian) ended 115,000 years ago. The current interglacial period (Holocene) began in earnest about 11,000 years ago but glaciers began melting 20,000 years ago. Over this melting period, global sea levels rose 120 meters. Noah’s flood probably occurred during the Holocene optimum, ~7000 years ago.

The spike in global temperatures after 2021 are most likely from the Hunga Tonga volcanic explosion of Jan. 2022. The explosion rang the Earth like a bell. But the injection of water vapor into the stratosphere is beginning to dissipate. I expect a slight cooling to resume into the 2030s from low solar and a stadium wave effect of warming and cooling (with a period of ~60 years (see Judith Curry).

My response is that there ought to be some increase in temp after 100 years of industrialization, plus the tonnage of bombs, including nuke tests, but whatever linked changes that we see is that of the earth making adjustments, as God "over-engineered" it, while the long-term positive effects - which are marginalized - will be positive.

And yet, catastrophic events are part of Divine judgment, and future fearful warming is when,

And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. (Revelation 16:8)

The Antarctic ice cores show that the rises in CO2 levels always follow warming, and never the reverse. This is due to the fact that climate is 100 percent natural 100 percent of the time. This so-called study is just a political piece of warmist agitprop.

Substantial warming creates dramatic increase in Oxygen levels that are lower now than in history. Health of biologically dependent animals substantially improves when oxygen levels rise. Warming improves the health of life on earth.

Notice how Vikings lived on Greenland for hundreds of years? Notice how they've found things like an arrow from 1200 or so years ago that had previously been covered by ice? Yeah well, that doesn't happen unless it was.....wait for it...WARMER in the past. Then it got colder. For people living in the past, did entire continents disappear under rising sea levels? Did life become impossible? Well no actually. In fact, people flourished when it was warmer.

The melting runoff from the glaciers would have keep the land along the coasts well watered throughout the growing season, which would have experienced long days of sunlight. It would have been VERY green.

Nuclear fallout from testing dissipated quickly from the atmosphere after the surface ban of 1962. Background radiation levels are not elevated except near Chernobyl and Fukushima.
Real pollution like sulfates, nitrates, chlorinated hydrocarbons and volatile organic compounds (VOC)s, are more of a problem in Asia. China has poor air quality (AQ) from burning lots of coal, similar to AQ Los Angeles had in the ‘60s. But here in North America, emissions have decreased significantly over the past 20 years because most utilities have converted to natural gas. Canada’s power grid is mostly from hydroelectric dams. But the out-of-control summer wildfires in Canada and California are a concern for particulate matter pollution (PM2.5), poor forest management.
The Earth is extremely resilient with built-in thermostats that keep the global temperatures a stable 58.5 F. But the Alarmists want to destroy affordable, reliable fossil fuels (God’s natural resource) because they push this CO2 conspiracy. CO2 is not a pollutant. It is a trace gas, plant food and necessary for life.
Ask one of these morons who glue themselves to walls and floors, throw soup on priceless works of art and block busy roadways, how much CO2 is in the atmosphere. They have no clue.
But the uninformed will continue to make unfounded claims based on emotions, propagating the false narrative of human caused climate change (arrogant presumption that humans are somehow more powerful than God), misrepresenting the facts and the science, reducing the dynamic complexity of our climate to 4.3 molecules of CO2 in 10,000 molecules of air, politics masquerading as science.

I like around 80 myself, but God knows best, while the Climategeddon panic as well as the Covid over-reaction (as well as the "plague" itself) are part of the judgments of God.
