Watched it in a film class, along with Potemkin, Triumph of the Will, Repulsion, and Butterflies are Free. I think it was 74 at UF. Back when you discussed and debated the meaning and significance of the film. Spoiler alert Death didn’t mind losing the chess game, because he new he would eventually collect them all.

Indeed, the sequels were terrible.

Actually, I calculate that yours & my odds of living forever are around 8%, believe it or not!
FACTS:
- A little over 100 total billion people have lived on earth through the history of humankind, it has been estimated.
- Of those people, 8 billion have never died! (Look at the people around you. They and yourself are part of that 8 billion).
So it stands to reason that if 100 billion people have ever existed on earth, and 8 billion people have never died, then 8 billion / 100 billion = 8% of all humans who've ever lived have never died .... ie are immortal! (so far, anyway)

There you are. Highly revered in Transylvania, though reviled in Bram Stoker’s book as a monster.

Everyone forgets about Cain.
yes maybe he settled in a city, or maybe he was cursed to walk the earth forever.
we know that back in those times before the fall people lived much longer than we do now.
Somewhere I read that in the times before the Bit Flood, and the clouds broke the people of the lands had created biolabs hither and there, that they were perverting the genome the creator had made, and were experimenting with gender transition surgeries. their hubris knew no bounds.
One man (fortunately a Billionaire) warned about the folly of men and women, and tried to save what he could.

I really enjoyed The Man from Earth.
I recall seeing it some years back, it’s a “small” film but raises some interesting questions.
I think the characters freaked out a little bit more than they probably should have, but it’s a movie, so there’s got to be something happen.

The Roman centurion that witnessed the crucifixion. Partially based on Longinus, which apocrypha says pierced the side of Jesus and later converted to Christianity.

St. Germaine’s cult is still around. A friend of mine bumped into a few of them and they decided he was “the one.” They never explained what that meant and he resisted the urge to go with them...somewhere for some reason, so we never found out what their plans were for him.
