Abortion vs. Border Security: New Mexico House Race Tests Dueling Messages
The New York Times ^ | Sept. 15, 2024 | Maya C. Miller

Under the hot desert sun less than 40 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border last week, Representative Gabe Vasquez, Democrat of New Mexico, lashed out against Republicans who talk about abortion as a “states’ rights” issue, charging that their real agenda is to place severe limits on women’s access to health care.

“That is now the de facto position of folks who want to limit women’s reproductive health care,” Mr. Vasquez told about 50 people at a groundbreaking for a new, $10 million state-funded reproductive health clinic. “We’ve seen the consequences of what this means for women.”

It is a message that Mr. Vasquez, a first-term congressman in a highly competitive House district, has turned to time and again as he fights to keep his seat amid a challenge from former Representative Yvette Herrell, the Republican he defeated two years ago.

He has worked to use Ms. Herrell’s anti-abortion rights voting record and previous remarks on the issue against her, including a 2020 video clip in which she said during a Republican candidate forum: “I wish we could have eliminated all abortion in this state.”

Ms. Herrell, unlike some Republicans who have airbrushed or downright misrepresented their past records on the issue, says she is proud of her stance on abortion, including her backing for legislation that would grant legal personhood to fertilized eggs, effectively criminalizing the termination of a pregnancy and potentially aspects of in vitro fertilization treatment.

She argues that the real issues in the race are illegal immigration and the rise of “migrant crime,” despite data showing that there is no such trend, according to official F.B.I. and Border Patrol statistics as well as academic studies. She and Republican-allied PACs have tried to portray Mr. Vasquez as...

"$10 million state-funded reproductive health clinic."

Actually, it's the state's $10 million abortion mill.

Vasquez is a homo anchor baby from illegal aliens. So he likes open borders and abortion doesn’t matter to him since he only buggers men.

“Official F.B.I. and Border Patrol statistics” are some of the better examples of “cooked books” being kept by the current regime now squatting in the Oval Office. The crime wave exists, and it is not diminishing by any means. Add to that the very real death toll from ingestion of illegal drugs, part of the crime wave which is fueled by the illegal entries into the US, and unleased upon unsuspecting or uninformed persons.

And that is not even taking into account the slave trade regarding some 300,000+ minors, children below the age of consent, who have simply been “lost” by the current regime.

Not just dirty hands, but bloody hands as well. A LOT to answer for.

Just because they are "Official" doesn't mean that they are true!

New Mexico is a lost cause. The bulk of the population are dreadfully ignorant, steeped in democrat mythology, and heavily dependent on government handouts from EBT cards at the bottom of the food chain to government weapons testing contracts at the top.

You'd think the higher the Catholic representation in a state, the more resistance to abortion. But that doesn't seem to be the case most of the time.

Order of Catholic representation from highest:
1. Rhode Island - allowable until "viability."
2. Massachusetts - allowable before 27 weeks, or "health"
3. Connecticut - allowable before "viability," NO parental consent required!
4. New Jersey - no restrictions on abortion at all. NO parental consent required!
5. New Mexico - no restrictions on abortion at all. NO parental consent required!

This is HORRIFIC.

I realize this is because of CINO's, legacy Catholics and "cafeteria Catholics," but still highly disturbing.
