Explanation: Only natural colors of the Moon in planet Earth's sky appear in this creative visual presentation. Arranged as pixels in a framed image, the lunar disks were photographed at different times. Their varying hues are ultimately due to reflected sunlight affected by changing atmospheric conditions and the alignment geometry of Moon, Earth, and Sun. Here, the darkest lunar disks are the colors of earthshine. A description of earthshine, in terms of sunlight reflected by Earth's oceans illuminating the Moon's dark surface, was written over 500 years ago by Leonardo da Vinci. But stand farther back from your screen or just shift your gaze to the smaller versions of the image. You might also see one of da Vinci's most famous works of art.

They put some strange things on the APOD posting sometimes (in addition to the muslim outreach and the china pandering). They should put me in charge. It would be nebulas that look like cheeseburgers every day.

It was actually quite clever, but I was more than a little slow on the uptake.

I was as well. It must help if you are on psychedelic drugs.

Some people are very creative : )
I bet this same person made interesting art in grade school with seeds they glued on poster board. If looked at from across the school room it was a picture of the teacher smoking.

Save the photo to your computer then use your image viewer to shrink it and you will see the Mona Lisa in all of them.
I use the free Irfanview. https://www.irfanview.com
I use ctrl + use the mouse wheel to shrink or expand.

You can also open then step back from the monitor and as you do the Mona Lisa eating pizza will appear...
