Bennet Omalu, the neuropathologist who has been credited with finding chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in ex-football players, is once again calling on Tua Tagovailoa to step away from the game.
Omalu told TMZ Sports that the Dolphins quarterback, who suffered his third known concussion on “Thursday Night Football” against the Bills this week, could become “permanently incapacitated” if he does any more damage to his brain.
The doctor, who was portrayed by Will Smith in the 2015 film “Concussion” on his life and work, urged Tagovailoa to retire from the NFL for the second time in less than two years.

A lot of people urged Peyton Manning to retire when he had those serious neck issues.
He came back, won a Super Bowl with the Broncos, and looks fine in his commercials for Draft Kings and many others.
This is completely up to Tua.
If he is cleared, he either plays or retires. No in between.
Tua should retire. His body is not built for football.
It he was 2nd string they’d tell him to retire and cut him if he didn’t.
Mike Matheny retired early as a baseball catcher after too many concussions, from foul tips into his face-mask. But he was 35 and had a good career.
The NFL should retire him before he dies or is incapacitated for good on the field.
Especially with his “fencing response”.
Here’s an article that explains Tua’s contract with the Dolphins.
He basically already collected at least $50 million of a $212 million contract. If NFL doctors clear him to play (and he does not retire) he’s guaranteed $167 million
If the NFL rules he is retiring due to injury, he gets a big payout, the rest of guaranteed money plus part of future earnings. If he retires normally, he gets the balance of the guaranteed $132 million due under his contract. Either way, he gets a lot of money. I’d take the money and run, but most of these guys love playing so much they stick around as long as possible.
How soon will those be required for all quarterbacks?
Free will. Jesus shakes his head too, good doctor.
Choices and consequences.
Why did Muhammed Ali keep fighting and getting absolutely pounded to the brain for smaller and smaller purses?
If cleared by docs and he doesn’t retire, how long does he have to continue to play to collect the remaining 167 million?
No docs should clear him.
“No docs should clear him.”
They pushed the vaccine.
I think he gets around $50M more if the doctors clear him and he then retires.
Trade him to the Browns...that’s where all quarterback’s careers end!
That usually involves an automatic neurological response which he is unable to control. Damage at a structural level.
Even if he can maintain adequate neurological function for life, he may not have the skill for a football player.
Another concussion, who knows what will happen next.
