Former President Donald Trump has explained his decision not to debate Vice President Kamala Harris for a second time saying that he clearly won their first debate. He used the metaphor of a defeated boxer who immediately demands a rematch to prove that Harris, who has called for a second debate, lost it.
But on Friday's Morning Joe, the exclusively liberal panel tried to turn the tables on Trump, breaking out a string of boxing metaphors to assert that their candidate won the debate instead - and beat Trump badly.
Co-host Willie Geist also found humor it: “I think the more apt boxing metaphor is that he just got his butt kicked in the third or fourth round, and he's deciding not to come back out for the next round, where Kamala Harris is standing in the middle of the ring saying, ‘let's do it again.’ He wants none of it.”
Former Republican Michael Steele took almost a sick pleasure in the analogies about Trump being physically beaten:
We know he's lying. We know he got -- not just got stung, he got knocked down. And he got knocked down in such a way that he could not get up.
So basically, what you have is the -- to keep this boxing metaphor going, the guy on the mat looking up, with one hand up in the air, trying to get up off the floor, saying, "I don't want anymore. No mas." . . . And so, yeah, he's on the mat looking up from the floor, saying, "I don't want no more." God bless you, Donald, because if you get up, she gonna hit you again.

Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
If the boxing match was 3 on 1 with a biased ref against him also, then sure the boxing metaphor works great. And even 3 on 1, Trump fought to a decision, again if you want to go with the boxing metaphor
While Kammy's two sorority sisters Linsey and Davina hold him...
Joe’s an ass. He doesn’t get that losers, not winners, want more debates.
As much as many of us would like for Trump to debate Kamala a second time, I suspect, he, Donald Trump had had his fill of ‘debates’ for a good long while. For us, the public, it’s a certain form of entertainment. For Trump. he takes it totally seriously, and prepares.
I suspect he thinks there are several other ways to influence the voters other than those Lib-weighted ‘debates’. He would be correct with that notion.
GO directly to the people as much as will be possible.
It would be fun to know how much of their audience is just conservatives rage watching/laughing at them. It’s probably a significant part.
Lock. Him. Up.
Harris refused to do two debates BEFORE people started voting, one on Fox, the other on CBS.
Hey Joe,
HR called about your intern request. They have a few questions…
He KO'd Lori Klausutis.
Be a shame if an illegal attacked the Morning Joe staff. A real tragedy.
Is that why the CSPAN poll had Trump winning 75/25?
Morning Joe aka Moron Joe aka Morning Joke (not my title but one worth repeating).
One thing about that show it shows the results of long term TDS and some wonder how Biden got like he did.
These debates are a joke - they’re actually beyond useless.
How to fix them...
To have a debate that exposes the true strength and weakness of each candidate you need a setup closer to that of a courtroom.
Each side gets to pick his advocate (attorney) to question both candidates to showcase the strength of his candidate and cross examine the other for weakness or lies.
There’s also a moderator (judge) who simply enforces the rules of the debate but not ask any question.
The audience (us) is the jury.
Trump ought to propose this- he would win in a landslide.
What do you think?
That is how it should have been done, yes, but it’s too late in this election to make it happen. Most voters have already made their choices anyway.
“Most voters have already made their choices anyway.”
But a debate like this would change a few minds.
