MARION COUNTY, Fla. - A Florida man has been arrested after he was caught keeping alligators and several freshwater slider turtles on his property, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC).
Wildlife officers arrived at his Marion County home after receiving a tip about him possibly having two alligators in his backyard swimming pool.
When the two FWC officers questioned him about it, he initially denied having alligators on his property, but later admitted the reptiles were in his pool, officials said.
While investigating the property, officers also found an alligator that had been recently killed and multiple freshwater slider turtles.
The man – who was not immediately identified – was taken into custody on two charges of possession of an alligator, one charge of unlawful take, and one charge of unlawful take of slider turtles.
It's unknown where he captured the reptiles.

A two-fer!.................
Oh boy, Marion County Florida Man!
C’mon, Man!
Just inform the powers that be that the alligators identify as Transgender Haitians.
There was one spotted in the surf on Fernandina Beach yesterday.
Yes, I saw that story but decided to post this one instead.................. 😉
Marion County is deep red.
We don’t want illegal aliens here, so maybe the gators were for the resident’s protection.
I just moved to Florida a few years ago.
My sons are here.
I left my door unlocked, my sun son comes over at night and says MOM lock your door.
I just smiled.
He says watch Florida man.
😂😂
I lock my doors now.
Can he keep Hatians in his pool?
With cinder bocks..................
I have been trying to explain to my wife the “Florida man” comments on FR. I don’t know when they started exactly, but they have a humorous life of their own.
He got charged for having Slider Turtles? Sliders are about 1 level more desirable than water moccasins in your pond. My dad might have parked me beside a pond when I was 8-10yo with a .22 and a few boxes of shells and said “shoot every one that sticks it’s head up and don’t come back to camp until you run out of shells.”
Everyone knows you’re supposed to keep them in the bathtub, not the swimming pool.
Can it play football?
LOL, best comment of the thread! ;)
Yes, ma’am! Gotta lock your doors in Florida, and many places these days.
They do have a humorous life of their own. The fact is, Florida has sunshine laws that make it very quick and easy for reporters to get the quick scoop on things that are happening. It is one of the most transparent states in that regard. So that’s the start, I think, for the Florida man stories. The fact is, these stories happen all over our country, but FM seems to steal the show because of the transparency.
” these stories happen all over our country”
I get your point, but at least 80% of Florida Man stories contain content including alligators, so that would give Florida another edge over a large portion of America.
Perhaps that because 99% of the alligator stories happen in Florida, where they are no longer endangered and shouldn’t be protected.
JMHO.
I agree, I literally have to kick them out of the way, on my floating dock, to get into my skiff!
I don’t think there’s any shortage of alligators anymore.
