SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — The U.S. government has temporarily halted a plan to remove iconic stray cats that live in a historic district in Puerto Rico’s capital until a lawsuit opposing the project is resolved, a nonprofit announced Monday.

There are YouTubes showing these cats. Other countries also allow cats to roam around town.

When I get depressed, I like to watch them

My Opinion:
There are two animals created by God that are born evil

* human beings
* cats
the reason these animals are evil? ...they kill for sport

Another situation for which I must ask - after all, WHY is Fed.gov involved?

Because El Morro is owned by the National Park Service?

Next time, just do it. No announcement needed. Any group of feral animals, living near a neighborhood,will need to be culled every so often. Especially so, when there are no natural predators willing to step up to the challenge.

It would be easier to herd cats than remove them.

I miss the stray cat I took in from 2016-2021. My first cat. She died. She was kinder to me than the majority of my family.

Because El Morro is owned by the National Park Service?

Why is that? who managed it 100 years ago?

Are they the only ones possibly capable of managing it now?

When Federal bureaucrats need to debate how to rid vermin from their own properties, we have officially entered the era of fatal bureaucratic bloat.

I took a few minutes to check up on the history of El Morro. One hundred years ago, it was managed by the U.S. Army which took it over from the Spanish military after the Spanish-American War.

The Army finally left in 1961, when the Park Service took it over. It’s been a government instillation since its very beginning for the better part of five hundred years.

I do get your point; the government seems to have its hands and nose in way too many things.

I spent a very interesting though probably illegal week in Puerto Rico when Castro was still in power. Found a guy online who said he could arrange it, so four of us went. Stayed in the best hotel in picturesque Old SanJuan, food was good, and even had hot water occasionally.

We were all cat lovers and enjoyed the cats, even took little morsels of meat out to feed them, though at that time citizens rarely saw meat.

Doesn’t sound like a Fed problem to me
