They did the definitive version of “Fool On The Hill”, IIRC McCartney even said so, himself.

“Like a Lover” Best song ever!

My dad had a reel-to-reel tape sampler of all the great A&M artists from that time: Herb Alpert, Sergio Mendes, Jobim, Wes Montgomery. I used to go into the music room and play that tape whenever I could as a kid.

BRAZIL 65 is still a great record, IMO better than 66.

It’s scary to read obituaries of people younger than me. Most of my friends already dead. I am going strong at 84.

RIP. Back in the mid 1980s as a teenager, I began discovering Mendes and Jobim and other Brazilian music (samba, etc). Have liked it since.

The Look of Love is the most famous song.
On a side note, I always thought Herb Albert was Mexican or Hispanic, but he is Eastern European Jewish.
Mendes was Brazilian.
Brazil 66 was very famous in the 60’s.

BTW, Harrison Ford was the carpenter who designed and installed Mendes’ recording studio in his LA home.

I am really a big and pretty much ONLY rock n’ roll fan, but my father in law had the Brasil 66 album in his collection. When he passed away, I kept it, not knowing what it sounded like. Amazing. I think I’ll spin it again sometime very soon.
