but why let your kid (2 yrs old, tiny bicycle) ride in street if you have some drive way space? no side walks?

Cul-du-sac in a gated community. I would think plenty safe for kids to play. I hope they also charge the POS that let the drunk vermin in.

A gated community, parents right there. Life is hardly worth living if you can’t allow kids that freedom. The flip side, is structured events only for kids.

The correct side, is harsh harsh punishment for law breakers. Why not 1st degree murder for this kind of thing?

The gated communities I’ve seen have sidewalks. Why didn’t the parents get their child off the street until the vehicle passed?k I don’t understand why pedestrians think their right-of-way doesn’t include taking responsible action when necessary. If your toddler is in the street, you should be in the street with them.

I agree. I notice some people think a Cul de Sac is somehow safe for kids to play in the street. I live on one and no it’s not safe.

Article said it was a gated community—maybe there isn’t normally a lot of traffic or trash.

“when the truck continued toward the cul-de-sac, according to the affidavit.”

That’s pretty much a dead end. Seems to me it would be pretty safe to let kids ride out in the street in that case.

It was inside a gated community and is essentially a driveway and parking lot. And the kid should not have been on the pavement.

"why let your kid (2 yrs old, tiny bicycle) ride in street"

It sure isn't a good idea, even if the street is a cul de sac.

Dunno. From the pictures the gated community does have some sidewalks but that’s not to say they’re everywhere. A cul-de-sac is mentioned - maybe that’s near where the child was playing in front of his house.

Most communities like that have speed limits that are VERY low (mine is 15 MPH and we have a sidewalk only on one side of the street).

Regardless, that Joshua Monterro is a pretty boy and I’m sure he’s gonna be REAL popular in prison.
